Piranha Plant Valley

They're not that bad, but they're not that good either.

Yay! A new level!

So this level is a SMB1 styled grassland-type of level with a couple of secret areas and lots of Piranha Plants.

Good stuff, but you have Mario's spawn point in a bonus room. You might want to fix that before you get points negated for that.

UNOFFICIAL REVIEW of PIRANHA PLANT VALLEY by MAN1234FK

This level was...ok, I guess. Not the best but no =t the worst.

Design (4.5/10)
There isn't really much to say here other than this is a fairly straightforward SMB1 styled level. It was just...kinda there, really. It was incredibly short and easy, and it was just pretty forgettable, and feels rushed, to be honest. The bonus rooms were a nice touch as they made the level feel more like SMB1.

Atmosphere (7/10)
This level had a lot of nice SMB1 graphic recolors and restyles, but it didn't feel that much like an SMB1 level. It was very nonlinear and short. However, the pranha plants in the level DEFINITELY fit the name. As I said earlier, the bonus rooms helped the level feel a bit MORE like SMB1, but it still ultimately didn't feel like it.

Other Comments: The SMB3 level ending was actually really cool

Overall 5.75 (Average)
This isn't really your best work, MAN1234FK, but you are still a very good designer! Don't let this discourage you!

Okay, I understand how this might feel rushed as i did work on it a little less than any other levels that i have made, so that probably means that i should work on my levels longer. Thanks for the review and i really appreciate the feedback!

Also, do you think i should make it longer?

Depends on what you wanna use the level for;
if you wanna make it for, say, World 1, then the length is fine.

I had more of a World 3-1 in mind when making it (The world being Piranha Plant themed)

I know that you updated the level to make it longer, but it still doesn't seem difficult enough to be a World 3 level, in my opinion, especially since it seemed like fire flowers are placed a bit too frequently. That doesn't affect your score; I just wanted to point that out.

And now, my review:

I have to agree with Turtwig on this one; this is pretty much just another forgettable Basic Grass Level. It doesn't really do anything wrong, but it doesn't do anything to stand out, either. The block placement is done well, but the fact that you used so few enemies makes the level seem like it's dragging on longer than it needs to. The level only has normal Goombas, red Koopas, red-recolored green SMB1 Piranha Plants, SMB1 styled Jumpin' Piranha Plants, and a fast-moving Goomba; however, the one time you used the fast-moving Goomba, it ricochets off of a Piranha Plant and falls into a bottomless pit before the player even has a chance to get near it.

Plus, there's this:
Spoiler: show
Because the sizable is above it, it's tricky to reach this pipe, so players may think that it leads to another secret when it doesn't.
Image
Also, the midpoint is imbalanced (it's about 2/3rds through the level). Instead of moving the midpoint, I recommend adding more to the level because you might be able to think of more ways to use the fast moving Goomba (as well as the other sprite-swaps you included with the level and didn't bother using).

Summary:
GOOD:
-Block placement is well done.
-Music is fitting.
-CGFX aren't terrible.

BAD:
-Enemies lack variety, especially for a level this long.
-Unbalanced checkpoint.

In conclusion: Although linear levels aren't inherently bad, they commonly lack enemy variety, like this one does. If you wanted to try to make a World 3 level, I recommend you make something like Cliffside Switch Cave (original; I haven't played the "director's cut"). I'd say this deserves a 5/10.

I'm gonna state some nitpicks of your reviews because I can state my opinion.
Spoiler: show
1. You've only been giving the score of 5.5-1.3
2. It seems that all the levels you've reviewed are boring to you
3. every time you review a level you take points of because of "little" NPC variety,
4. you seem to review only grass and "first" levels
these are only nitpicks but I'm stating these because they've been bugging me for a week.

1. He gave Cliffside Switch Cave Director's Cut a 7
2. Not true
3. also not true
4. He reviewed Sealtower, which is neither a grass or a first level

1. So?
2. Because nowadays it's rare to see something special released in the Levels section.
3. I do agree that taking points off for little NPC variety is stupid, but he doesn't do that for every level. Get your facts right.
4. That's because there are hardly any unique levels released in the Levels section anymore, and every time he happens to review something, there are grass and "first" levels in the Levels section. Or, just read my response to number 2.
