Design: 7.5/10
Nice level design overall; it plays a lot like SMB3's levels, with a simplistic design style and NPC placement, but it has more exploration when compared with the original game. The stars are hidden nicely, and it is pretty fun finding all of them overall. The only problem I have is the one at the locked door; I believe it's a bit too much having to backtrack after getting the fire flower near the end of section 1. While it would be better in an episode level, as you could just bring an powerup from a previous level, it's a bit annoying as a standalone level. I feel like simply adding another powerup closer to the door would be nice, but it might feel a bit too close to the first one.
Another minor problem I have with it is that the level could use some more NPC variation; most of them behave very similarly, such as the Koopas and Buzzy Beetles, and while it works well so far, something different would be pretty nice. I also had a few problems with the slippery platforms, but that's more of a personal issue, so no problem here (never liked ice/snow levels personally :p). Other than that, I didn't find anything wrong; nice job.
Aesthetics: 4/5
I found the graphics part on this level very well done overall. The graphics fit well together and give the level a classic SMB3 feeling; it works surprisingly well with the simpler design. The level is decorated nicely, and the music choice is actually pretty good. Not much to say other than that, I guess.
Overall: 7.6/10 (11.5/15)
This would work well as a level in a more classic episode, with its simple but fun design and classic-style aesthetics. This feels like something Nintendo could have done, so good job on that!
