Update:

Hey guys, sorry for not having updated in forever. I've taken what you guys said about the look of the graphics having to look like Zelda into consideration and what I want to do is create the graphics myself in a 32x32 format (instead of 16x16 scaled up 2x). I know this will take me a long time, especially making the backgrounds which have to be huge... but this is what I want to do.

Anyway, I here's a little bit of work I've done so far on sprites. Let me know what you guys think.

Hi guys! This is my first SMBX project, called The Other Adventure of Link. In this episode you will be playing only as Link as you fight Zelda themed enemies, explore towns and take on dungeons. Basically, this game is all Legend of Zelda inspired, although it will be a Metroidvania. This is a VERY early build, but please leave any comments and suggestions you may have. Thank you.

It's not required to put "WIP" in the project title - posting it in the Projects forum implies it's not finished.

As for this project, the idea seems nice but it doesn't look enough like a Zelda game to me. Blue made some awesome custom Zelda graphics in his battle level, so maybe you should check those out.

@Joey Oh ok, I will take out the "WIP" then. As for the graphics, I will try to make more custom graphics as I figure out the look I want. I pretty much want to make all the graphics myself and practice my spriting. Thank you for the comment.

@Valtteri Is there somewhere I can get to those graphics/battle level? I'd love to check out other people's zelda themed work.

The battle level is one of the default battle levels that come with SMBX. Check out hyrule-temple.

Not many Zelda 2 levels have been made. Zephyr made a couple for his episodes, I think. I've made a lot of 16 bit renditions of Zelda 2 sprites but only one Zelda 2 level which I don't feel like reposting until I've remade it for Wind and I's upcoming Zelda 2 themed episode.

@Valtteri, Oh cool, it's nice to see other people working on zelda-themed episodes. Can't wait to check that out, I pretty much love Link's controls in SMBX.

The screens are broken. You should fix that.

Whoops. They should work now, I uploaded them to Imageshack.

The zelda theme will not be convincing unless every single graphic reflects that theme. In other words, in your screenshots, the smb2 background and tiles just don't fit at all. Zephyr made a Hyrule world for his first solo episode, SMB A New Beginning. I suggest you take a look at it...I know zephyr wouldn't mind if you used his graphics.

Thank you for the crit, krazykoopa. My plan right now is to basically create all the graphics from scratch. I just posted an update showing a few sprites I made, please check them out.

According to the screenshots, it isn't too bad of a game. I am also making a Zelda game. Here is the link if you want to see it.
