What is an "official" episode?

I'm a little confused. I'm guessing it's an episode made by the head honchos on this site, like Valtteri, but maybe I'm getting something wrong here. I ask because I noticed them being mentioned in the description for the "Level Designer" rank.

There technically is no such thing as 'official episodes'. Not anymore. The only official episode iirc is The Invasion. All other episodes are not official.

If I remember correctly, the episodes packaged with SMBX over the years (The Invasion 1 & 2, The Great Castle Adventure, and The Princess Cliche) are all considered official. The last official episode was The Invasion 2, which released in 1.3 (if I remember correctly).
Since Redigit has stopped working on SMBX, there can no longer be any "official" episodes. Most of the official episodes were made by Redigit in the first place, the only one not being made by him was The Great Castle Adventure, although it was still packaged as official.

For posterity, both posts above me are incorrect. Official episodes are any episodes made by our team of Level Designers, or that from the original forums. Examples include:
- The Invasion
- The Invasion 2
- The Princess Cliché
- Return to Yoshi's Island
- The Great Castle Adventure
- New Great Castle Adventure

Can I disagree with the above post without getting punished? (This is not my full post btw)

I pretty sure official episodes are made by either Redigit or the Level Designers team.

I'm sorry, but
what. Since when.

That doesnt make sense how a episode made by the admins of this site be considered "offical" if this is just basically a fan site, so by that logic i could open my own forum make an episode and call it "offical"

Take a better look on who are the level designers. None of the admins in this forum apart Valtteri are level designers.

The point is a episode would not be considered offical unless redigit and his team designed it.

The team of level designers in this forum has both of the 2 level designers in the original forum.

The fact remains that Redigit does not care about SMBX anymore, so no more official episodes.

I'm going to add my two cents' worth into this discussion.
So TGCA was an official episode when it was made, because it was made by the team of level designers, yet I''m remaking it to fit the standards of the community now. Does the fact that I'm making a remake of TGCA mean that the remake will automatically become an official episode, or is it still among the ranks of bogstandard episodes like LFFTMK or Super Mario Galaxy X?

I don't know how Joey thinks that because this is his forums he gets precedence over what makes an episode official or not. There have only been 4 official episodes, no more no less. Sure, he can have a team of level designers, but that'll never make an episode official. Joey doesn't own this community, Redigit did, and he pretty much still does, because the torch was never officially passed on to anybody, and it certainly wasn't passed on to Joey at any point in time.
The Invasion
The Princess Cliche
The Great Castle Adventure
The Invasion 2
Those were the only 4 official episodes. Say what you will about there being more, but those were the only official 4 packaged with versions of SMBX up until 1.3, the final version of SMBX.

Eh, I'd say whoever the founder of the largest current SMBX forum can decide what's official and what's not (after Redigit left of course), but once a larger one is opened, that founder gets the decision.
Redigit isn't going to be crowning any official SMBX episodes anytime soon.

That's why there will be
no more official episodes.

I mean there's actually a new version of SMBX out, and Redigit isn't involved with SMBX anymore, so Joey and them are free to add any new episodes to 1.3.0.2 that he wants.

But that doesn't make them official.

Just because someone can 'modify' a program, it doesn't make that release official either. I could edit SMBX and label it version 1.5. Then release my personal project with it. Does that make it official? Hell no.
