Mafia Role Database (Through M44)

The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

With each passing game, more and more roles have been created. To help keep track of all of them for new and veteran players alike, we present:

The Mafia Role Database
Scroll through the roles below to learn about each and every one.
Use Ctrl+F to search quickly for a specific role!

This is intended to give a brief summary of each of the roles and their general ability. The roles are sometimes themed in specific games, but these are the general roles and official names.

I've decided to make a role database with more categories and added like 5 or 6 new roles as well.

Visit: Visitation refers to the act of targeting a player during the night. Most games only allow visitation by roles with night abilities, but some games require all players, including townspeople, to visit someone each night (these games usually involve visitation-based roles such as the Lookout and Arsonist.
Gun: A "gun" is a single use night kill awarded by some roles' night powers.
Painting: This refers to the changing of another player's cardflip cover, usually covertly. Painting is often temporary.
Host PM: Host PMs are PMs received by players from the host for official game-related concerns. The results of a sheriff's inspection are a common host PM.
EDIT 2017.08.09:
Updated roles that were used in M41 with the exclusion of 2 roles. (sadly I couldn't find any names for the Dark Shaman and the Sniper that would make sense)

Roles may be tweaked to your liking, future hosts!

If you wanted, I could rewrite this so it includes everything we need in it since right now it's a bit sloppy.

Not like you could've said what your issue with it is or anything given it's a WIP anyway.

I don't want to sort by color because there are a lot of roles that can fit under multiple colors. If anything, that would make it more difficult to find certain roles. They're alphabetical currently.

It's mostly stuff that is hard to put into words, but I'm still up for the offer if you'd like.

If I submit a mafia game, I would like to tweak a role.
It would be the Serial Killer.
I would nerf his role a bit.
Instead of an Auto-kill each night, I would like him to only have a %50 chance of killing someone, and a %50 chance of blocking their role for a day + blocking their lynch voting for a day.
Is that allowed?
I don't know how far you are allowed to go with the tweaking.

Roles won't be added unless they are part of an official game. To do that you have to win the host-sign-ups.

Updated for Match 10's roles!

Basic Changelog:
Added roles for matches 8, 9, 10A, and 10B.
Split roles among spoilers for each team.
Added additional roles for those that had previously been under the roll of another affiliation (ex: Assassin was added under Mafia instead of under Vigilante).
Removed team affiliation under each roll.
Added a few balance suggestions to roles.

If you have any further suggestions, be sure to let me know here. :)

I think you forgot to list the Anti-Rioters from M6.

Updated list looks good, but I'd like to note that the Captain role from M10B could also have a second lynch vote called as well as being able to inspect each night, you can note that by its name or something if you want.

Just wanna say that this is, in fact, not dead. So far I've gone through all the games up to M15, I'll continue to edit it later.

Edit: I grew a brain and realised doing them reverse is smarter, so I added M19-M21.

Edit2: Every role until M21 should be in now! Please note I renamed some roles to prevent confusion (for example, the roles for M21 are known as "Infectious Wolf" and "Equipped Human" so they don't get confused with the "normal" Humans and Wolves and for the roles that had really game-specific names like M14, M17 or M19 I made up names that should fit more into a "normal" Mafia environment).

If the database has been updated through M22, where are the Traitors?

I figured they'd only be different names for a Mafia, but after thinking about it, the Red Traitor is a different role.
