Sonic, Shulk, Mega Man, and Pac-Man are 3rd party characters. 3rd party characters are characters from the roster that are not full on Nintendo characters.

Shulk is 1st party, as Xenoblade was published by Nintendo and Monolith Soft is owned by Nintendo. And 3rd party characters are not Nintendo characters at all.
Yeah, Shulk is like a second-party character at most, he's not nearly as disconnected from Nintendo as Sonic, PAC-MAN (as the game calls him) and Mega Man and, as Thundaga said, the company that published his game is a subsidiary of Nintendo.
He is arguably "less" first party than most of the characters though.
OK, I might sound stupid right now but I think I saw Reggie from Nintendo of America in the online mode, his name was Reggie and there is no other reason he kicked my butt in under 2 minutes.

Reggie as in the same guy who made the NSMBWii Level Editor?

I literally just said Reggie from Nintendo of America...

I don't know if you're serious or not, but "Reggie!", the NSMBW level editor, is just named after him (Reggie, president of NoA, and not actually made by him), because everyone loves his presentation style.
Also that'd be pretty awesome Superiorstar if it was actually him.

It had to be him! how did he react to all my moves with only 30% damage?
Chances are it wasn't Reggie. Another thing is the fact that anybody can plain do that any day at any time.

It could be anyone that is good (enough to beat you ) with the name 'Reggie'.
So people have been saying that there are about 46 stages in the Wii U version, the newest addition being Flat Zone 2. The only thing that strikes me odd is that I heard that there were 19 familiar stages. I've only counted 18(this does include Flat Zone 2). Would anybody else happen to know anything I don't?(please let it be Pirate Ship ;_;)
Edit: After a renumbering I noticed that there are 18 familiar stages and 28 new ones.
