Reincarnation is the rebirth of a soul in a new body, for those who did not know. This thread's purpose is to discuss it.

I, personally, think this reincarnation is very possible, despite it being not scientifically proven. I don't think people only have one life, if that makes any sense. But why? Well, I think people get more than one chance on Earth. I don't think if so-and-so dies in a car crash, they never gets a second chance at life to do better.

It doesn't really seem to me like you're discussing reincarnation basically at all in this post, just some anecdotes about this Sadhu Haridas guy (Wikipedia page here, in case you're interested) who could go a long time without food and water. Considering this happened in the early 19th century, it wouldn't have been terribly difficult to fabricate or at least exaggerate (I can believe that this guy could go quite a while without any nutrition if he was burning so few calories, but 40 days is a bit much) this kind of scenario by either the European doctors or Haridas himself.

Additionally, the first half of your post seems to say that we can't make any claims against this idea without trying it ourselves. This really just seems like a way to stifle debate towards your ideas, Kep, and it's rendered kind of moot anyway by the burden of proof. Since you're the one making a claim (that body and consciousness can be separated) it is your job to prove that you're right in order to gain support, not my (or anyone else who disagrees with you here) job to prove that you're wrong.

Also, none of this is really following the scientific method either way, despite other things you say in the first half of the post. All scientific evidence still points to the idea that your consciousness is gone permanently when you're dead. Again, anecdotal evidence from some 19th century monk and/or the European doctors who observed him doesn't really cut it in terms of scientific evidence.

I'm really sorry if I sound like an asshole here. Your arguments here just don't make all that much sense, and don't really talk about reincarnation in the first place, just separating body and consciousness (neither of which I personally believe in, just to be clear). And, again, they don't truly mention any scientific evidence.

Sorry for the confusion and stupid stuff, Pseudo, it was late last night and I had no idea what I was doing so I just copied some random reincarnation article (or should I say, since it was barely related to reincarnation, "reincarnation") article and pasted it onto this without reading through it at all.

I edited the first post. It still isn't very constructive, but I might edit it again later if I feel like it.

I believe people reincarnate as long as they have something else to learn. Life is mere experience, and people have to live it in order to learn from it. If anyone didn't learn anything while living they have unlimited chances to relive the experience.

I believe reincarnation is possible, why else do Cats have 9 lives?

to be serious, i think that reincarnation of a 2nd life may be an "effect" with the karma you've had throughout your former life...

Just for the record.

I don't believe in "you reincarnate back into another thing in our world" reincarnation (though i don't disbelieve in it either) but rather I believe that after death we will continue to a different layer of reality.

I'm a Christian...

I think my opinion on Reincarnation is obvious.

I don't necessarily believe in reincarnation, but it is possible, and has at least some logic behind it. There are many theories on what happens after death, and this happens to be one of them.

Also, I'm a Christian, too, but I'm not denying the fact that reincarnation can happen. The only way to know which theory is true is upon death.

Yeah, true. But reincarnation isn't the only theory out there.

However, maybe reincarnation occurs to prevent people from knowing what happens after death. The higher being might not want people to figure out what happens after death, so thus, it created reincarnation in order to prevent this, while still keeping the life cycle going.

These discussions are just so fun, especially creating theories. xD

If you forget what happens between lives, and you become something else/someone else, it's less "reincarnation" and more "recycling"
