First off, I'd like to say that if you're gonna talk about your signature, do it here. This discussion is about the signatures in general, or specifically the lenght of the signatures in this forum.

I've seen many active members with a long signature and there was a little dicussion in the talkhaus about the signatures in this place (it was only in the CC9 thread and it's very little; I don't want posts about this), so I came up with this question: What do you think about long signatures?

I think long signatures are a bit annoying, because they takes much spaces. Also I think people shouldn't put giant banners in their signature, they should at least resize it.

Discuss.

Joey told me to shorten my signature once. He said it was too long. Maybe if I try to spoiler most of it it would've fixed the problem?

Having big Signatures isn't that the best we have in (nearly) any Forums since not only that it is very huges in size but it tends to take unnecessarily longer in order to even get down here or maybe read what everything is about inside a Topic. Either if it is a huge line of Message or some Images that are huge it tends to drag out on their Signatures and takes longer to even proceed by reading most of the newly created Messages we have inside a Topic. Having a Spoiler where most of the giant Stuff is in really helps the Time for us to scroll down/up for reading it.

Yeah, that would be a good solution. Many people are using that.

My biggest problem is with big animated .gifs in signatures. They make the page load very slowly when I'm in an area with a slow Internet connection and they take way too much space. This all made me turn off signatures in the User Control Panel, though I'm not always logged in when I visit the forum, which turns into a problem.

We should short our sigs bc talkhaus said they fucking huge.

I won't change mine i shorted it already and it's fine now. I saw others having bigger ones then me but meh.

I just have a problem with people having 1000 pics in their signature or just videos.
Especially videos <.<

I have a problem with enormous signatures. They're not necessary and are just plain annoying. If they contain unnecessary gifs and/or videos that load to page at a snail's pace, I will silently curse the person and wish them bad luck. *side glares at CaptainSyrup*

I disabled signature viewing because IMO they clog up the forum

I feel self conscious because there's a video in my signature.

No longer, though.

it wouldnt be a problem if the limit was the norm and not fucking 999 characters, as well as enforcing a 'large-image-in-signature-is-a-no-no' rule.

Huge signatures are too annoying, because while you look for a post text (especially on the a smartphone), you must checkout, zoom, move and find useful text and correctly skip and filter other crap which sometimes appearing inside signatures of some users...
I'm not speak about links to projects, forums or social network accounts... I'm about dumb images (which usually huge and useless) or text messages which are a crap because contains a lot of useless information. I would to require users to put this crap into spoilers to not annoy with useless stuff or if moderator will make it - user will get warning. Exceptions are a links to own projects (even with big logos), sites, social network accounts which are useful but not so annoying (even good, when people are share their art creations to world!).

Huge signatures are annoying. Seriously, if you have large images and all that, put it in a spoiler. =P

You can disable viewing signatures in the UCP, if that helps anyone.
