I think that would work as a fine and simple game.

I think the lowest you can have for a working game is nine. I have played seven player games and they are completely terrible every time. Even eight players games have issues.

It says there are 8 townies, but as expressed in the "how to format mafia games" thread, instead of writing "townie x8" each townie should be given their own line so the numbers and balance becomes clearer

Yeah, it would have helped if each townie was given their own line rather than just in the description because usually games with no special idiosyncrasies have a townie description as normal.

The number of players doesn't matter as long as the game is designed for that many. I've played very entertaining, 3-phase 4-player games before. This community obviously isn't suited towards that number of players for a game, so we don't do that type of game, but any amount of players can be great. That game in particular is better with a high number of townies, but not every game has to be 9+ (mostly directed towards mech)

20 players, can remove a townie and killing tp to make it 18 if required

Mafia
Bartender[+]
Now cardflips blue on inspection and death.
Godfather
The leader of the mafia. Cardflips green on inspection and death.
Inexperienced Godfather[-]
Cardflips green on inspection but red on death.

Kidnapper[+]
Now silences the person they inspected as well.
Consigliere
The brains of the mafia. Can inspect one player to find out their exact role.
Crooked Cop[-]
Can now only find out the cardflip color.

Rainbow Painter[+]
Can now can use red, blue, green, and orange paint. Gains one more paint use as well.
Painter
An artistic mafioso that expresses himself onto other people. Can paint someone black twice throughout the game.
Confused Painter[-]
Now paints someone randomly and is forced to paint.

Charismatic Nightrider[+]
Has intimidated the government so his votes are now worth double.
Nightrider
The tough yet new member of the mafia. Cannot be nightkilled.
Mafioso[-]
Disrespected the godfather so got beaten so badly he can be nightkilled.

Town
Upgrader
The guy that brings powerful upgrades. Can choose a heir that will gain his powers once he dies.
Heirless Upgrader [-]
Can no longer choose a heir.

Multitasking Sheriff[+]
Can now inspect two people at once.
Sheriff
Inspects a player every night.
Unsure Sheriff[-]
Is given two colors upon inspection, one of which is the real color and the other is a random one. The random color cannot be pink or purple.

Surgeon[+]
Heals a player. If attacked, the surgeon makes them harder, better, faster, and stronger. Meaning they will be immune to the next nightkill attempt.
Doctor
The local doctor. Can heal a player every night.
Terrible Doctor[-]
If the player is attacked, the doctor does a temporary patch up, but the player will die at the end of the next day.

Street Hero[+]
Kill attempts fail against innocents. (Millers are not innocent until upgraded)
Vigilante
The man that takes action into his own hands. Can kill a player every night.
Guilty Vigilante[-]
If he kills an innocent, he will commit suicide at the end of the next day due to guilt. (Godfathers count as innocent)

Overtime Dissector[+]
Can now use his ability during the day and night.
Dissector
The local dead bodied obsessed man. He has a license though. Can dissect one dead player during the day to find their exact role.
Unlicensed Dissector[-]
Lost his license, so now everyone finds him more unusual.

Honor Roll[+]
Can now become an upgraded role starting Day 3.
Student
Graduates on Day 4. Can become a special role he chooses.
Dropout[-]
If not upgraded back to a Student before Day 4, becomes a regular townie.

Lost most of his funding so now has to buy cheap gas that doctors will easily notice.

It's doesn't matter for entertainment of course, but it does matter for trying to strike a balance of how many people we can include in a game without overshooting it. Right now 13-17 seems to be the lower and upper limits.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned this community not being suited for smaller number games.

And honestly? With the activity levels, there are times that a 10-12 player game would be better here. Not right now, but there are definitely times.

The town of Salem, Italy is back with the Mafia again, but this time, everyone got an upgrade.

Mafia
Godfather is the leader of the Mafia. Every night, he can inflict 3 damage on a player. Has 50 HP.
Painter can paint any Townie red or any Mafia green. Has 30 HP.
Contagious Guy can block the Doctor for 1 night. Has 30 HP.

Specials
Cop can inspect 1 player each phase. Has 50 HP.
Confused Cop tries to inspect 1 player each phase but a random color shows up instead. Has 50 HP. Does not know he is confused.
Doctor can give 5 HP to a player each night. Has 50 HP.
Vigilante can inflict 5 HP a night. Has 30 HP.

Town
Townie is a regular Townie. Can vote to inflict 15 HP a day. Has 25 HP.

Just gonna say that the massive ammounts of HP that each role has would make this game painfully slow
Also painter should only be able to paint red(And it should honestly last a single night) since it essentially gives the mafia a second godfather, making inspections even more meaningless(Not that they were that meaningful anyways because confused cop). And if you get a role that can rb the doc whenever they feel like you might as well not even have a doctor. I would recommend a normal roleblocker. Finally if the godfather dies the mafia has no way of damaging anyone so they depend a lot on his damage(Which is very low by the way, to the point where it would take 9 phases to kill a townie, and that is disregarding doctor heals). Also lynches should instakill. You need to have roles deal a lot more damage(Or greatly reduce the hp of all roles) and have each mafia role actually be able to deal significant damage.
Overall this game needs a lot of changes before it can be balanced.

The HP system will grind the game to an absolute halt because as helmet said there is only 3 HP that the mafia can damage each day, and the town is collaboratively voting to lynch someone. An issue with this game is that 3+15+3 = 21, so it will take at least 96 hours for any player to die or 72 hours if it is the minute chance all hp inflictions including vigilante is on the same person, but that is highly unlikely. Being said, this size game with a mafia/town ratio would last 3-4 days and 3-4 nights normally, but the extension of that using the hp system will extend the game out to at least a month. No one wants to play the same mafia game for a month.
Godfather - The way you are phrasing this game makes it seem like that godfather is the only one who can inflict hp. If the godfather dies, the game will extend longer than a month and it just won't be fun for mafia trying to kill someone.
Painter - The painter having the ability to paint any mafia member or town member every night is overpowered. The mafia can paint all of themselves blue, thereby eliminating any sense of trust and alliances the town can create and would just not be fun for town to deal with. Moreover, the mafia can paint all the town red since it has unlimited usages.
Contagious Guy - This role is kind of useless to be honest since it is only one use and won't aid the mafia at all when it takes 4 phases to kill someone. This might as well be a mafioso.
Cop - The fact of the matter is the cop is really useless in this game because of the painter, and the confused cop exists, thereby eliminating any semblance of trying to attain information where their roles function as information-attaining roles.

The frightening town of Salem, Italy never sees the last of the Mafia, the Cult and the Fire Gang.

Mafia
Godfather is the leader of the Mafia. Collaborates with the other members for a nightkill.
Goddessmother is the cheif-in-command. Can open 1 loot crate ONLY.
Roleblocker can block any role each night.
Framer can paint 1 townie red each night. Takes effect the following day.

Town Specials
Sheriff can inspect 1 player each phase.
Doctor can heal 1 player each night.
Vigilante can nightkill 1 player.
Jailor can throw 1 player in jail each night, disabling their ability to vote.
Persuasive can convert 1 Cultist into a Millmasked each night.
Firefighter can bring a burnt player back to life each night.

Ugly Sweater can open 1 loot crate ONLY.

Besides that Cultists are usually Purple, and the corresponding miller for them are usually Masons (two purple townies who know each other.) it looks interesting. (A Blue Mafia member is called a Bartender.) I think the Town Special count is a bit too high and Godfather+Bartender is overpowered. Also, having a Cult + Arsonist group is a bit much. I also do not like the Loot Crates as a concept that much. Also, the Consort and Painter seem to be even more overkill for the Mafia. No to mention this game has 24 players (which I made a 26 player game and that was overkill.) 18-20 seems to be the max.

I am sorry if this seems too overkill for you. And about the Loot Crates, I thought you like M49 with the piñatas...
