Custom music help?

Postby jacksonnintendo3ds » Mon Oct 06, 2014 11:44 am

I need help adding custom music. I put the mp3 file right next to the level file and typed it in the custom music space on the miscellaneous section, and it doesn't play. Please help. Appropriate grammar and details would be helpful. If you are going paste a URL on your reply, please do not link it to those crappy YouTube videos. Thank you. Your help would be appreciated!-Pro

Did you add the ".mp3" at the end inside the white bar where the Custom Music should play? Like if your Music File is called battle1 and while typing the battle1 inside the white bar you add .mp3 too since SMBX can reconize to that file more directly like that.

Yes. Whenever I type in the exact file name, even adding .mp3, it doesn't play. I even changed the name of the mp3 file into a simpler name.

Is the music in the level folder/episode folder?

I created a folder and placed both the level and mp3 files in there already, and yet the music still won't play.

If you can and know how, put a download link here to your .mp3 and I'll tell you what's wrong with it. Also, mind telling me what site you got your .mp3 from? There's a lot of .mp3 sites out there that suck and for the most part don't work. Also, honestly, even though you said "please to not link anything to those crappy YouTube videos", your best bet is to find what you want on YouTube and use a YouTube to .mp3 converter. But since it doesn't look like you're going to do that, I'd say just link me to your .mp3 and I'll figure out what the problem is.

Can be a idiot ask but... when you put the name of music with .mp3, you press the "Custom" button after this?

He most likely did, otherwise I think my picture tutorial would have helped him since I said to press "Custom" at the end.

All right. It was the mp3 file itself. I played a different mp3 file, and it worked. Thanks, guys.

Just a note: the bit rate of the music can affect whether it plays in SMBX or not. If the bit rate is too high then SMBX won't be able to take it, and thus it won't play. I had the same problem as well with certain music, and checking the music in Audacity revealed what the problem was.
