Which newer Mario game is most like the Original?

Postby chazperx » Sun Sep 21, 2014 2:59 pm

Hi….
My son loves Super Mario Brothers, the original, but that is hard to find. We have XboX 360, Gamecube and Wii. My question is which of the games that are currently out that are most like the original. I’m really looking for something close to the original because anything newer might be a little difficult. Any suggestion you have would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help…..I appreciate it!

Chaz

The original Super Mario Bros., along with its NES sequels and Super Mario World, are available on the Wii's Virtual Console. I would also recommend purchasing "Super Mario All-Stars" for Wii.

If your son want to play the original Super Mario Bros., you can download it on the Wii Virtual Console for the equivalent of USD $5. Otherwise, you're probably going to want to go with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a "traditional" Mario platformer on the Wii.

By the way, the original Super Mario Bros. is probably the second hardest game in the series after its sequel, Lost Levels, so you've got nothing to worry about in terms of difficulty.

You can get Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World for the Virtual Console, they are both fantastic Mario games. And in my opinion, New Super Mario Bros. DS is very similar to Super Mario Bros. 3 so you cold that for him as well.

The newer games are easier than the old ones IMO

I would get Super Mario All Stars: Limited Edition (for the Wii)
Overall, the 8-bit graphics are neat and all, but why download the 8-bit version of SMB1 when you can play 4 16-bit Mario Originals in one?

I thought what he meant was, "What newer Mario games are close to the old ones." not the exact old games playable on the wii.

Like for E.g. New Super Mario Bros 2 is like SMB3 but it has one new power up: Golden Flower.

If you're going to do it this way then I'll say nsmb is.
