MegaMan X Corrupted

Postby PikaChris » Sun Sep 14, 2014 11:36 pm

I've never been into megaman like everyone else, but this project is so promising. I've discovered it a while back and decided to follow JKB Games on his YouTube account. I'll show half o everything he has on YouTube.
Spoiler: show

I've been hovering over this game for over 5 years. I really love how it's perfectly bringing back the SNES MMX style, soundfonts and everything. The music even rivals a lot of the X series OST itself, barring perhaps the first game which had the best OST in my opinion.

This game is being so lovingly made that the only area I don't have high expectations in is the overworld design itself. It's supposed to be Metroidvania/perhaps MMZ? style, and that kind of thing can be pretty hard to do fluidly. As long as it's passable, though, I'm satisfied. The sprite designs, enemies, bosses, and AIs and all the other stuff I've seen can potentially more than make up for that aspect.

The most recent video—the Crystal Rafflar stage demo—is definitely where I've started to be sold on the idea that this might actually be a really good game, rather than just a really good effort.

I actually remember coming across this when it was still early in development and being really exited (there were plenty of original fan-made 8-bit songs, but this was the first time I heard original fan-made 16-bit songs). I had somehow forgotten about it until I played Mario Classic and heard Underwater Caves again, at which point I just had to go back and check on its progress. I used to check the Facebook page every day, but there was about a month or so where there weren't any updates. Now, I only check it occasionally, but I'm still pretty exited about it.
