I can't even count how many times I've decided to go back and restart my episode, flipping back from hub to world map each time.

I really like the way that looks! However, that gushy-flower-green thing in the tileset should be reshaded. Something like this, perhaps.

It's because PGE doesn't recognize the masks there. They works fine in SMBX.

Because used lazily-made masks. Mask should be black&white, it defining Alpha-channel for sprite.
Where:
White - transparency,
Black - solid color,
Gray - is a semi-transparency.
SMBX uses stupid "AND" algorithm:
White - 1, Black - 0.
Where 1 - don't draw, where 0 - draw. Because you have buggy transparency in SMBX:

Thats a cloud and that's grass both in smw form and together?
What do you mean clouds don't look well together with grass?

Looks pretty good, I just think that the Vines in the background look a little bit like you can climb them and I kinda don't like how there are grey and blue-ish clouds. imo you should just use the blue-ish ones.
