Hello everyone, I've been working on a full length SMBX Zelda game for some time and I would like show you what I had accomplishedso far. I was only able to complete the beginning but it does include and introduction cinematic, first dungeon with event boss fight, first village, and major hub city. (Hyrule city named Rulia city). The game is not an episode, it is a total conversion mod that comes with a modified EXE and all game files necessary.

Download has been removed as the project may still be active

The Legend of Zelda:Pillar of Dreams was to be a full 15 hour Zelda game with 8 zones including a main city (which was partially completed), 8 dungeons with epic boss fights, full reorchestrated music by ZREO, and a huge non-linear open world. The game has no world map, and you can traverse from place to place on foot always able to return whenever you like. There was intended 7 main dungeons and numerous side quests which had to be competed before you were granted access to the final land of Khorudan where the game finale takes place. You play as link with your fairy companion Myri to aid you on your journey to save the land of Medea from an ancient sleeping beast that has awakened. It took my many hours of testing but I was able to create a non linear story where you the player can do which quests you encountered in whichever order you desired. The Pillar of dreams takes place in the land of Medea a continent Southwest of Termina, where the majora's mask events took place.

This is a Village house.

This is the main City of Rulia, the main quest hub.

I work in progress map of the land in Lord of the Rings art style. I designed the entire storyline and map with territories, dungeons and towns prior to working on the game to ensure all things fit with the lore.

Seems very interesting but...

Please post screenshots or videos on your first topic so we can actually see what your SMBX Episode has to offer via Eye appeal. You have 24 Hours of Time until this Topic gets Locked!

I don't even think this is an SMBX episode.

Surely but it will turn into a regular SMBX Episode anyway when it is finished.

Is this...really? A Zelda SMBX project? They're really rare when you weigh those up against the many other projects, which are Mario themed. This is looking quite well, but the SMW boss door in the third screenshot clashes because it's too cartoon-ish. If you recolor it using the Zelda palettes then it'll look better.

That my friend, looks awesome. It's pretty rare to see Zelda projects, yet you seem to have made something outstandingly cool.

Yeah, I would suggest you to use this, it's a recolor of my early made SMW boss door. I'll be releasing it tomorrow, so I don't mind giving this sooner. Save as "background-104.gif"

You could, just for a laugh, add in Zelda CD-i references as well, seeing as it's a Zelda project. Like things such as someone wondering "I wonder what's for dinner." and I think it would be quite cool if Ganon repeated his catchphrase from the games as well - "You dare bring X to my Y? You must die!" or maybe "Join me Link, and I will make X the greatest in Hyrule, or else you will die!" However, you don't have to do it if you don't want to - it's only for a laugh.

OFF-TOPIC: I am considering removing those joke levels seeing as they've gotten negative reception, or change the way they're accessed so that they're hidden, and they don't have stars (apart from the secret one).

ON-TOPIC: I found some more graphics in the screenshots that don't fit with a Zelda environment. They are namely the SMB1 tree and SMB3 desert cactus in the second screenshot. Zelda graphics give off a dark vibe, and Mario is more light-hearted, so darkening those graphics will be the way to go, just like with the SMW boss door.
