And also, don't worry abut 1x1 pixels. You can make a 1x1 pixel graphic, as long as you double the size of the graphic using Nearest Neighbor after making it.

I never said Paint.NET sucks. I said everything BESIDES Paint.NET sucks.

GIMP doesn't. I use it all the time and I love it.

Curiously, I hate Paint.NET, despite the fact that everyone else loves it.

Honestly, GIMP and Photoshop aren't that bad once you learn to set the settings right and whatnot.

I use my pc painting to make png of the graphic and then i use GIMP (2) to mkae it gif.I don't use Paint.NET (even if i have it on my pc) because i don't know how to use it,for me is easier with pc painting.

I can't figure it out. I'm sure if I could use it I would love it, but why do that when I've got something that's just as capable as making graphics that I'm great with?

Maybe paint.net or Gimp.

GIMP and Photoshop support tools for other kind of image making while Paint.NET supports the designer with all he needs for spriting. Although lately there were some unnecessary addons that make it look a lot like a mini Photoshop, still it is not as near as Fireworks for what regards the similarity to Photoshop. Either way, I'd suggest you to use Paint.NET, if possible, either version 4.0 or 3.0 if you prefer. I've heard the newest version give some designers trouble trying to make stuff.

3.11 is the best Paint.NET but I'm using 4.0.3

ms paint is the best. Everything I do is made with that. I just recolor stuff with Paint.net^^

I agree, I'm reinstalling my v3.11 because there are just certain things they've done in 4.0 and 4.0.3 that I just hate, which mainly involves the fill tool and some stupid auto-scroll feature that activates when the mouse goes to far to one side of the screen. If anyone wants the old 3.11 install file, I still have it and I can send it to you if you want.
