I would like to bring to everyone's attention a rather nasty and disgraceful abuse of power by one of our moderators, DarkMatt. I want everyone here to know what he's up to, as the facts speak for themselves, and I am calling for him to be removed as a moderator IMMEDIATELY.

On 8/29/2014, the moderator DarkMatt posted the following things:

- Post accusing me of calling him a troll (no such comment or accusation was ever made about him)
- Told me that if I'm going to act like a hipster on criticism (?) that I should quit on my SMBX project while I'm ahead, before I finish it and "everyone decides it's crap and you're crap".
- Replied to my new post on a project I am starting by posting a gif of a kid swinging at a ball and striking out.
- Other members have commented on DarkMatts behavior, saying that "You manage to make cruel reviews and insult people, yet make it incredibly hilarious, even to the people insulted." He has made a name for himself by being rude, sarcastic and childish. Snide remarks about someone's work is one thing when coming from a fellow forum user, but that is entirely inappropriate for a moderator to behave that way. Other posts throughout this user's history involve him talking about another user (not present in discussion) and calling him an ass, calling someone stupid, responding with a gif "here lies such-and-such he never got laid"...
- Defended another user and told me I was treating him like dirt, after said user has had a history of posting things like THIS (warning this is a very nasty post):

This is not someone we want having control over our forums, folks.

These are the actions of a moderator who is abusing his power and will only be a detriment to this community. I am calling on other moderators and forum members to insist that he be removed as a moderator.

No just no... like really why make this a topic instead make a pm to an administrator. But sir you are at faylt for continuing to argue this so i believe you are making accusations. So kid stop with thois stupidity.

You gotta accept criticism. It's not meant tagainst you, but that's the kind of behavior Matt likes to make fun of. But, in it's core, his criticism is right, though direct. You gotta get a skin when you join these forums.

So if I went into your project post and said "your project is a crap, and you are crap" you wouldn't have a problem with it?

My point is...that's not criticism. That's entirely inappropriate, even for someone who's not a moderator. Why are you defending that sort of thing?

And I bring it up on a post because everyone else deserves to know about it.

My point is...that's not criticism. That's just being a jerk.

His points were valid. If you post some test screenshots that have nothing to do with actual levels you can expect harsh criticism. Also, you gotta understand the this is DarkMatt's attitude, and most members know him (and understand jokes). He posts these kind of .gifs on many projects that don't have screenshots, that's not aimed gainst you only.

Again, read the details. DARKMATT DID NOT POST CRITICISM OF MY WORK. That was someone else.

I'm here because he called me, personally, crap & accused me of saying things about him that were never said.

How he got the position of a moderator in the first place is beyond my knowledge and if I remember correctly countless times over did Joey say he wasn't getting the position. Unfortunately it seems as though he got the position and for eternity we will be doomed by his abusive and bullying behavior. His responses shall be, as I can predict, that we are too soft, we need to grow a pair, and that you're too much of a baby and are whining over virtual warnings on a forum part of a shitty community.

Although I do agree that he does need to be nicer to the new users, you being an example, he's just going to be normal DarkMatt, and we can't change that.

Meh...this is DarkMatt's nature. You can't change a person to your liking. Besides, your over reacting and DarkMatt is a great mod.

A mod doesn't have to be nice to everyone, he has to help people improving their habits. That's what he did, that's what he always does. He has his... um... "special" nature of being super sarcastic, but he's aiming not to insult anyone.

The fact that he's mod should show he's qualified. You may not be happy with it, but things are like things are.

Sure, he got the position, but being a dick to users and shaming them isn't how a moderator should do his job, because as far as I'm aware, none of the other staff members do this, just DarkMatt.

DarkMatt is a fine moderator, and I don't think he should be demoted. However, I do think it's rude of him to be mean towards a newish user, and in general, he should stop being so unnecessarily rude sometimes.

That's my take, at least.

The former is a problem, but the latter isn't. There's nothing wrong with animated gifs as long as their content doesn't break the rules.

Just gotta reply to each accusations.

1: It's probably a misunderstanding on DarkMatt's side.
2: He judged the project by the screenshot and said it looked bad. You might argue about the way he said it, but he was just criticising it. He also pointed out how you can't take criticism in the same post.
3: Nothing to do with this "case", if it were just for this he already would've been banned.
4: Superiorstar's history is completely irrelevant. He might have been semi-trolling in th epost you linked, but the post on your project was definitely NOT trolling.

So basically, th eonly flaw is the way he points out things, and most forum members know that it's not meant to insult anyone.

Let me translate the second part of this: He never said that you're crap. He said that if the final episode has the quality of the screens, it'll be a bad project. The whole 'crap' thing was him exaggerating, and that you'll, judging by your attituade against Superior, just call everyone who criticises it a troll.

So, uh, here's a little explain of my post:

As u didn't read the rules, u didn't post screenshits and someone said it to u. after u get rage but u posted them and superiorstar went in ur topic and do some good criticism (and don't say ur blind or somethin?! he didnt make good criticism he was insulting mi project!!), but u raged and told him he was trolling. after darkmatt told u that he was trolling he was doing criticism and u didn't understand, but u were still raging and so made this topic.

Also I agree with Nickname. Another thing I'd like to say is that you should improve your behavior.

Flipping through this, he isn't abusing his powers at all, he's just being DarkMatt. Don't get me wrong, he's an okay guy, but you have to realize that sometimes he can be a dick, as with a few other users here. If you can't handle that then you'll have a bad time in this community.
