Special thanks to Cloud for making the logo.

I started Super Mario Legends about 18 months ago, and due to the lack of progress recently, I've come to a decision about what to do about this project. I've figured out that what I planned ahead of me for the original SML was just too much. So, I came up with the idea to make a very short project. So yes, the old Super Mario Legends is cancelled. But a new one is being started right now! This project will be the first part of a potential trilogy, perhaps saga, idk yet. But I'm just going to start with trying to complete this episode so it won't overwhelm me as other projects have in the passed. Here is what this project will include:

-20 High Quality Levels
-Many Brand-New Levels
-Some Old Levels from the Original Super Mario Legends
-Bonus Areas (Toad Towns, Peach's Castle, etc.)
-A Unique and Creative Storyline
-3 Stars Per Level
-No Distinct Worlds
-Loads of Fun!

So I hope you are as excited as I am for this! Now without further ado, let's get to some screenshots!

It's finally complete! I'm pretty sure Quill has submitted his CC10 reviews, so I think it's safe to post the download link now. The episode contains 20 main levels, plus a bunch of "storyline" levels. You can see more by playing it yourself, so go ahead and download it! I hope you all enjoy.

If you don't want to download version 1.3 and have already downloaded the episode, download this patch file and replace it with the existing file in the episode folder: https://www.mediafire.com/?ctfczthk8a6295o

I think it is needed to complete the game. Sorry for the inconvenience.

First to comment!

Also, good lord, it's a shame SML got cancelled, but this project looks good as well. Love all screenshots so far. Good luck on this project.

May I suggest you making an epic space level for the 16th level, because that would be pretty awesome!

That sounds like a great idea! I'll definitely consider that, because I've never made a space level before and it would be cool to do one for this project. ;)

Thanks for your comment, Kep! I'm hoping to update this project frequently and post new screens at least once a week. A couple new screens will probably be up later today.

This looks like a really well thought-out project. Do you need any beta testers?

Thank you! Yeah, I'll need beta testers. They might not get the beta until the project is 50% (and then again at 100%), but yeah, I'd really like beta testers. Do you want to beta test?

Wouldn't being a beta tester. I could design a level for ya if ya want ;)

Yeah, I'd really like it if you designed a level for this project! You're such a great level designer, so a level from you would be very appreciated. But only design the level if you want to, of course. If you do, PM me about it and I can give you details about your level! :)

From all projects that are currently undergoing, this is probably the one I'm most hyped for. The screenshots look simply wonderful. Each level has creative graphic choices and looks flawlessly and impressively designed. Your level style is generally outstanding, so keep it up!

And yes, it's really difficult to keep being motivated to finish such a big episode. I'm kinda struggling myself, but still manage to find motivation somehow. The idea of splitting the episode into smaller parts so that you can finish one part without sitting several years on it is incredibly clever, though. Maybe after finishing two or three parts, you could even do a full SML-episode? You'll have a lot of levels for various themes, then putting them all together with some difficulty curve adjusting and eventual new levels; that seems like it could work out.

But good job so far. Definitely looking forward to this. And if you need Beta Testers, I wouldn't mind. =P

Thanks for your nice comment, Kyo! It's really encouraging to think that you're so excited for this project. I like your idea of combining all the levels after making a few parts. I was actually thinking of doing that, and since you think it would be a good idea, it's pretty likely that I'll end up doing that. And of course I would like to have you as a beta tester, so it'd be great if you could do that!

I would also like to beta test. I enjoyed testing the levels in your levels in the original SML, and would appreciate the opportunity to help once again with this.

I must say that I am really impressed with the new screens as well. They all look great, especially the bee hive one. Good luck with this!

Great! You did a great job beta testing for my old project so of course it would be awesome if you beta tested for this as well. And I'm happy you like the new screens. :D
