I don't now if this goes here... I used the SMB3 athletic background from the SMB3 gfx. But when I use it, the sky from background2-1 (the background that replaces) appears in the top...
See spoiler for a screenshot of the bug

The screenshot isn't working, at least for me. However, I do know the problem. SMBX uses a section of the sky background at the top of certain backgrounds to serve as clouds. You'll have to edit the sky background as well if you want it to match.

I did it, but looks like SMBX doesn't use background2-2 as clous to other backgrounds...

Are you sure you actually did edit it? Because it should work if you did, therefore you are doing something wrong if it doesn't work.

Don't know why, but I think you used the background2-1 in your level. In that background the background2-2 always appear at the top as well do the same with other backgrounds. Therefore, you don't have any problems. At least from what I understood. Oh, and please post a new screenshot, because the one you showed is broken.

This is what happens when you rename it into another background with no clouds

I don't really understand what's your problem. Well, try to delete the background or give it to us.

Okay. Your problem here is that you're misunderstanding how specific backgrounds work. In the case of Background2-1, it uses Background2-2 as the upper portion of the background. There is no way to remove this.
What you need to do is replace Background2-2 with a graphic compatible with your Background2-1 replacement (you can fill Background2-2 with a solid color matching the top of your replacement, and that will work finely). Then it will work.

Well, i did it, I painted background2-2 in the
SAME color as the top blue of the custom background, but now the bug looks without clouds... but looks like background2-2 gets lighter... See spoiler for screenshot.
