I'm just curious if this is possible in SMBX. The level I'm making has at least one platform that will (hopefully) run along a line.

If you use those SMW Switch Platforms, they are actually active all the time no matter where you start on your Level. I think that is what you ment by automatically active. You just have to put him on "On" position while you chosed a SMW Switch Platform.
