Feeling sad joining this forum...

Postby youtubeware » Tue Aug 12, 2014 1:33 pm

Hello every... uh... I do repeat stuff the same thing...
As the title says, I am not really happy joining this group, and my levels are being stupid in every version and custom look makes it worse Image
I don't like my "The great maze" level after I read the replies Image
And the people seems not like me Image but I do really want to make great levels but I won't share here again Image
I am going to decide later, maybe I will deactivate my account...

YouTubeWare

EDIT: Today is my bday, thank you everybody for making me happier than ever! I will make a level based from your tips, I won't make custom gfx, I don't like it!
So, stay tuned ;)

This has nothing to do with "we do not like you" in general. And surely joining this forum isn't always simple. You just have to deal with what is gonna happen.

Eh... Sorry, I went to mention you about your politeness Image
And yeah, I won't share any of my levels, all of my levels sucks! Even awesome tips won't help me, I searched YouTube over and over for my level requirements but nothing, I am only creative in Animations no SMBX!

Do not worry. You can show us Animations in maybe "Art Bord" or "Sandbox" Forum we have here. And you can always try to go with SMBX and improve it... it never hurts to build a level and say that you like this level by yourself.

It's like this, we all started as loosers in SMBX and we all sucked. It will take a long time until you become a really good level designer. If you really want to be a great member of this community, contribute much stuff to the community, be polite, visit the IRC often (It's easy to make friends there), accept critism and use good grammar. That's the "key" for becoming a great member. But if you blame yourself for being a beginner and sucking at level design or something else, it won't help. For the start, you are much better than the "Newbie Standards". Those are often impolite, actually suck at everything and think they're good. Your levels are much better than mine when I started off. So stop whining and try to be the very best member in this community. I believe in you.

Also nobody dislikes you. Being ignored is not the same as being disliked.

Yeah, when I was the first time joined, I was not a good Member as it thought it would be but later on I learned and becoming better. Back then my English was a bit weaker than now. Still not the best but definetly more qualified than for like 2-3 Years.

Well, lots of community standards aren't what budding level designers use. They use creativity. I personally loved The Great Maze. It felt like one of the episodes made before 1.3, and that felt really nostalgic.

Deviantart is the most best site to get friends for me...
After 2 days of joining I had 3 friends and now I got 50 friends and subscribers, They do like me always, and I like them too! They really mean me a lot (Some of them don't chat at all Image
Well, joining forums is boring most of my time, I open deviantart everyday, and I always see awseome arts and stuff, comparing from here is a extremely very high diffirence than here!!!!!
I do not like SMBX forums but the game what I like!

Yeah, this is the biggest problem here. They almost never focus more to the original nostalgia Styles like The Invasion and so on which is why they are complaining. I personally really want so we can make more nostalgia Levels and not only "newer" ones.

I haven't heard much about what you do, but playing famous episodes or playing Nintendo's 2D Mario games and actually looking at the level design is a good way to learn making good levels. Look for GFX you like and just make a level with these. Build a little bit of a level and get a more precise theme and then continue this theme. Think of neat little gimmicks that are fun to use. Inttoduce them in a safe area so the player can learn them. Just make stupid test levels you'll never release anyways tp test out mechanics of SMBX and test out gimmicks.

Sorry, but I am a big fan of Rayman, I don't understand the level design of Mario much...
But I do really like Nintendo stuff Image

Then make a Rayman-styled level. Ask for someone ripping a Rayman tileset or making one or one already exists. Of course you should change the gameplay to fit the physics, but iirc Rayman levels have lots of exploration, so make the level non-linear. Iirc Rayman has to free creatures to end the level. Turn this into Mario. You have to acquire a shell to free them. Just be creative.

I went to do that on my level but sadly didn't fit!
And Ubisoft (Rayman's company) don't use tiles :(
I have the ripped "Rayman Legends" game but the sprites are way tooooo big!

I haven't heard of you, but you have to understand that criticism is actually a good thing.

Say you made a level that was full of clash, unfair jumps, and NPC spam, and you personally thought it would go in the "Pretty Good" section of the levels board. But of course, being a level with all those negatives, members of the board told you that the level wasn't as good as you thought. Also, when a level judge rated your level, it got a score of 2, putting it in the "Trash Can" section. Say, you got upset by all the negative comments, or criticism, as we call it on the forums.

This is not a good thing. You see, criticism is given to encourage the creator to work on a certain piece of work (lie an SMBX Level or Episode) to improve it in a certain way, whether it be a level, episode, or graphic you made. We all want you to enhance your skills in level designing, whether you need to do big things or small things to get the job done.

So, as you can see, criticism is a good thing, and we only give it because we want you level designing skills to grow. when I made my Kaiso series "Impossible!!!", I received a lot of critisism, which inspired me to improve on ym designing skills. Because of this, I believe I have improved on my level designing skills. I'm even recoloring GFX now, which is an important part of level designing because it makes it able to fit in with the rest of the GFX. I call this consistency in theme.

So remember, we gove criticism to encourage you to hone your skills as a level designer, and to teach you new things that can help you as you go along.

Do not let all this stop you from staying here.

Without critism, you can't improve your levels. Without improving, you feel like leaving these forums. See the link here?
