SMBX High Quality Sounds and Music

I replaced all SMBX sounds with high quality ones.

Redigit has confirmed that the tracks and sounds in SMBX were recorded with Audacity from the SNES emulator called ZSNES. ZSNES screws up all the sounds with fast intonations. Because of this, the sounds that SMBX plays when Mario grows or shrinks, fires, jumps out of Kuribo's shoe, an NPC fires, Blargg yells etc. sound bad. Well, I re-recorded all the screwed up sounds and bad quality songs with another SNES emulator, SNES9x, which has a much better sound quality, and it ended up so good that I'm now permanently using these. It sounds much more like the original Super NES.

ZSNES is also the reason why people think SMB1 SNES, SMB2 SNES, SMB3 SNES and SMW have different sound effects. ZSNES leaves out random notes when playing the sound effects in these games (and in all the other SNES games, too) making them sound different. The truth is that all these four games use the exact same sound files. ZSNES is an okay emulator, but it has a shit sound quality. Not everyone cares about this, though.

If you don't believe me, have a few sounds from the original SMBX sound set and the original SNES sounds as what they're supposed to sound like.

Item coming out of block
SMBX - My pack
Player power-up
SMBX - My pack
Player shrink / warp pipe (they use different sounds in SMBX for some reason)
SMBX - My pack
Spin jump / Racoon tail
SMBX - My pack
Door
SMBX - My pack
Dragon Coin
SMBX - My pack
Birdo Beat
SMBX - My pack
Level select
SMBX - My pack

How to use these
  • 1. Back-up the original SMBX sounds. Copy the original SMBX sound folder and paste it somewhere else.
    2. Extract the ZIP file containing my new sound folder to where the original sound folder was.

Whoops, forgot to remove that part when transferring from Knux's forum. The download has both sounds and music.

Hey Valtteri, love your stuff, I just wanted to point out that in the music folder, SM64-water, is missing/0 bytes. Not major, but I just wanted to point that out.

There must have been an error when you downloaded the pack as the song appears correctly to me. Are others having this problem?

Here's the song for download: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/994 ... -water.mp3

Nope, it worked alright for me. This a great soundpack and I love the fix for all those screwed up standard sound effects. This makes the game a little bit more fun than it already is :)

Thx, Val, I would also personally say that when I first used the music and effects...they sound incredible and very SNES-esk if that makes sense.

edit: it dawned up me, why don't you do a NSMB's sound pack?

The creator of SMBX (Redigit) does not own SMBX anymore, We just had a few Things like this sitting around and someone somehow updated the coding, GFX, and sounds.
Also HI, and that was the most horrible and stupidest bump I've ever seen.

Do you always have to be rude? What if didn't know about the Redigit doesn't own smbx anymore incident? You can't expect a new member to immediatly know this. And don't come up with"He could have read the rules".

Sorry, but it's not my fault he didn't read the rules in the first place or read or hear about this incident, it isn't my fault he didn't make an introduction topic so someone can alert him with the rules, It isn't my fault that he bumped this outdated topic saying something super random, And it's not my fault that he doesn't know about the incident in the first place. There is no reason to reply to this because I'm not replying back after this.
