What is happening in the level? How many warps, water boxes, and other sprites have you used? Check over the level, and try and find something that looks out of the ordinary. Try lowering the amount of blocks/NPCs/BGOs/warps as well, as a counter-measure.

Please give us the Level per Download Link so we can find the solution to this Problem. I often get a "Subscript out of Range" when a Script gets too much for a Program to handle and that is in SMBX itself, nothing on your PC.
Example: If any type of Power Up (Poison Mushroom counts too even know it is tecnically not a Power Up) falls into a Lava Tile while your Level has so much going on (length of the Level; a lot of Events, Blocks, background objects, NPC, etc...) an Error pops up and says "Subscript out of Range". There are more but that happens pretty often on a strong Level.

I also get the error when I try to use a key on a locked warp.

How even is that possible to happen? It usually doesn't happen like anyone else here. Are you sure it's only the key and the locked warp that causes that error to appear?

Something in the script is probably in another folder, or contradicting itself. Did you add any things in?

We need to kmow which version of the game you're playing. SMBX 38A is known to have a few bugs in it that causes this error. SMBX 1.3 does too, but those are mostly fixed in SMBX2.
Also, that error isn't specific. It can occur for a number of different reasons. The only information it really gives is "something went wrong". That's why everyone is asking you questions. It would help you if you would answer them.
