Moving platforms without tons of events?

So, we all know the SMW lines for the moving platforms. Is there a way to make platforms move automatically without programming a ton of events? And another thing, in the Episode Luigi's Fight for the Mushroom Kingdom, 1-3, there's a platform that goes up and down but no events. How?

Besides the platforms that run on the SMW lines, no, you cannot easily make moving platforms.

Can you attach blocks to an invisible SMW platform?

Its probably moving on the SMW line guide BGOs anyway, they are likely invisible (that would give the appearance of the platform moving on its own).

You should be able to yes. I attached BGOs (a fence) to the SMB3 Wood platform before and it worked fine.

You could always attach it to a spark

You can make SMW lines (which work for the SMB3 and SMW platform NPCs, by the way) invisible using custom graphics. More likely or not, this is how this platform is moving.

A more advanced way of getting the platform to move your own way is to attach it to an enemy NPC such as a Spark, as suggested by lighthouse64. If you attach it to a Spark you can get the platform to turn 90° without having to turn it 45° first. If you attach it to a Bully you can only move it horizontally, but you'll be able to control the direction and the speed the platform moves by standing on the left or to the right of it.

OK, here's how you do it. Let's say you want to attach the platform to the Bully as an example:
1. Select the Bully NPC (it's in the Misc tab) and place it directly above where you want the platform "path" to go.
2. Now take the platform and place it directly below the Bully.
3. Make a layer and put the platform in that layer.
4. Now select the Bully, open the Events window, and where it says "Attach to Layer" choose the layer you just put the platform in.
5. Make the Bully invisible using custom graphics.
6. ????
7. PROFIT

well if you want it to not use the BGO at all I cant help. but you can make it look like your not using it by first making the track and then using graphics to make the line invisible. so the platform would follow the SMW line you placed but you would make it invisible with graphics. I hope that what I said is helpful
