Why are signature images always marked as spoilers?

Example: Someone has a huge goomba picture as their signature, and it's marked as a spoiler.

Does your signature get marked as spoilers if you put an image in it?

Spoilers on this forum (and I also think most other forums) are used to save space. You will often see screenshots in spoilers, because those can take up to half a page and if every screenshot always had it's fullsize, imagine how annoying it would be to scroll through a topic where you need 10 minutes to get to the bottom because of all the large images.

I don't know if it's in the forum rules (I think it is), but I strongly advise you to also always put large images, especially if it's multiple images into spoilers, just to spare us all from annoying scrolling for all eternity.

It's just so that pages don't become unnecessarily long. Some of the pictures in people's signatures are quite large.
