Childhood-Ruining Things In Video Games

There are many known things in video games that terrify people. However those video games don't necessarily need to be horror-themed games, they can be in classic games and to this day have ruined the experience of the game for people who have seen them. Here is a place you can post these creepy and disturbing things you find. You can post many different things including

-Enemies
-Anti-Piracy images (if you find that creepy)
-Theories behind actual parts of the game
-Any other things that are creepy that you can find

One thing I ask of is that they DO NOT come from horror based games, otherwise post as many as you like.

To start this off here's a pretty well known one.

"Hell Valley Sky Tree

On the missions Prince Pikante's Peppery Mood and Octo-Army Icy Rainbow Romp, if the player uses first-person view and looks up at the glacier cliffs in the scenery, three figures can be seen watching Mario. As he progress through the first mission, they seem to follow him (this happens because they are in the background). The texture for these creatures is known as "HellValleySkyTree", associated with the sky model "BeyondHellValleySky".[1] The three figures also appear in Grandmaster Galaxy in the Pull Star Planet. They cannot be reached by hacking; if Mario attempts to use a flying cheat and go to them, he will lose a life. The cliffs are pre-rendered, making it impossible to get closer to them. The figures resemble a Kodama, a spirit from Japanese folklore said to live in certain trees on the inner reaches of the mountains. Chopping down a tree that houses a Kodama is said to bring bad luck. Nintendo has not revealed what these strange figures are, but similar figures can be seen near the flagpole if the player waits long enough in Super Mario 3D Land."

The Mad Piano from Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 64. I could never even go near that room when I was a kid.

Perhaps I've aged perfectly in time with the advance of gaming into the atmospheric era, but nothing I ever encountered in games did more than disturb me until I was old enough to handle them. I wasn't that young when Ocarina of Time came out, and I would not change anything about that game. Besides that, my disturbances were mostly related to Lavender Town and some of Nintendo's quirky stuff. Game Boy Camera had a LOT of weird shit.

I think the amount of time I spent with Game Boy Camera is just another one of those reasons I'm so fucked up in my adult life. For example, this is an example of an image that would accompany the occasional error messages:

And there was an option called "Run" presumably so that you would select it and be accompanied by music as you ran away from the unhappy person you took a picture of. Though occasionally it would just be one of those faces, and the text "Who are you running from?"

It wasn't particularly scary, but certainly weird as hell.

The Phazon Mines in Metroid Prime are really creepy. It's the main base of the space pirates in this game (The Space Pirates and their leader Ridley are the main enemies of Samus in almost every Metroid game.) The Space Pirates want to get Phazon here to create dangerous mutated enemies. Everything is contaminated with radioactive Phazon in there. I found this place creepy, because strong Space Pirates are in almost every room and I couldn't fight them so good. Those mutated creatures were held in glass cells. Sometimes they get out of the cells and the doors are locked. Samus has to fight these Space Pirate experiments to get out of the room. And the Phazon Mines have a big lack of Save Stations. That means: If Samus dies, you will have to start from the Save Station that has been used to save your progress before. The Phazon Mines have a creepy soundtrack, too. Just listen to it:

Today I don't find the Phazon Mines so creepy and hard. They are easy when you know how to dodge the Space Pirates correctly. They were just creepy when I played the game the first time.

But those Metroids are still damn frustating:

Some pokedex entries are also a bit strange.... Examples:

*Cacturne: If a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. The Pokémon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving. (Sapphire version)

*Drifloon: It tugs on the hands of children to steal them away. However, it gets pulled around instead. (Pearl version)

*Kadabra: It happened one morning - a boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into Kadabra. (FireRed version)

*Cubone: Wears the skull of its deceased mother. Its cries echo inside the skull and come out as a sad melody. (Yellow version)

Those were just pointing out by XerX.

I remember a thing I read about some creepy games fact. It was about a game called "Braid". Braid is a game which is Mario-style and the protagonist is called Tim, a dude who can reverse time and uses his powers to find a missing princess. It has a bad ending, tough, as this princess won't be happy to see Tim. In the game there are 7 hidden stars (there are 8 stars indeed, but the last is in the final level and need to unlock the alternate ending to get it;read more under) and the game doesn't give you any knowledge about them, so it is even possible to complete the game without knowing they exist. They are also really difficult (or time wasting) to get, for example one star require to wait in a screen for 2 hours. What could happen if you get these stars? Nothing, at first. But if you go to the last level, there is a slighty difference. In the last level it seems that you are helping the princess to escape from a bad guy, but after you discover that the princess is escaping from you. Also, in the whole level you can't touch the princess, but with the stars the level is changed so you can touch her, and, if you do so, she'll start flashing and then will blow.

Here's a video which shows the alternate ending.

Some creepy Pokemon entries i know of...

Drowzee: "likes the taste of little childrens dreams better"

Hypno(firered)-"It carries a pendulum-like device. There was once an incident in which it took away a child it hypnotized"

Litwick(black/white)-"while shining light and pretending to be a guide, it leeches off the life force of any who follow it."

(also would creepypastas count as a child-ruining thing?)

I'm sorry, but if I had realized this before while playing 3D Land before, I wold have stopped playing. I've seen those faces before, but I thought they were just bits of shadowed fog or something a little less un-nerving then that. I decided to check it out just now, and they appear much quicker if you stand like Luigi is; at the fence staring into the forest. I didn't know about the ones in Galaxy though, then again, I've never seen them there. I'll be keeping an eye out for those next time I'm in those missions too.

I would also recommend checking out 3D World, because I think they do appear in some of the Ghost House levels, well in the background at least like in 3D Land.

The Dungeon Guardian freaks me out. It's not because of the instant kill, it's the boss laugh that plays whenever a guardian spawns.
