This is pretty much the problem. The level screen just freezes and becomes completely unusable at random times. Sometimes it's after tabbing out and back into SMBX, sometimes it's after saving the level/map, sometimes it happens after playtesting. When I drag my mouse over it, it just disappears, when I drag another window (in this case the level settings window) over it, it leaves a black trace on the level window. Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

This used to happen to me, and then it stopped. I don't know why it happens, or how to perminately fix it, but if you switch to a different window (like a web browser or Windows Explorer) and then switch back, it will usually clear it up.

The black trace is caused by the paint event in vb6. When you interact with another window, by moving it in your example, it sends a paint event and all of the paint messages have to be cleared before the level window can run its paint event again which would correctly draw the entire level. I've had the same problem with freezing too, but I'm not sure what actually causes it. It usually only happens when I have another window open and I switch tabs so that may have something to do with it.

I think by SMBX Freezes can happen due to a lot of process and/or Programs are running. It can be the case of having a lot of stuff running at the background it tends to not work other programs like SMBX. I am not entirely sure because I never had that kind of problem by freezes. Try not to overload your PC with processes and/or Programs. I can see at the bottom of your screenshot that there are like over 10 or so programs running.

This happened a lot with me with my Window 7 PC even with SMBX only Running. Never happened on me Window 8.1 PC with SMBX Compatibility set to Window Vista Silver Pack 2.
No way to Fix. Freezing can also happen by trying to load a Custom Music File.
