There are many transparent GFX, but I don't know how to make it. Help! Screenshots would help.

Make the mask a grey color instead of black.

Transparency is a pretty complicated part of background modification.
Like Blank said, you need to use a grey color for the mask instead of black. Let me explain to you how it works. Usually, when you're making a mask for a block/background, the black color is used to define which pixel of the actual graphic should be printed normally, and white is used for those that shouldn't. Choosing the middle one, which ends up being grey, you should get a great transparent color.
But, like I said it's a pretty complicated addition, way more than anything related to SMBX GFX modification. Overall because there are various mixtures of grey, or simple grey variations that end up showing multiple but different results. I wouldn't suggest using this feature unless you learn more about masks, but I think it should be ok if you still want to use transparency.

I'm confused. What do you mean? Do you want the color green transparent?

You'd better desist of that idea. If there's any problem with transparency is colored transparency. Precisely because SMBX is unable to port it with a rate of 100% of no errors the colors normally change and ends not fitting with the atmosphere. If you plan to use transparency I'd suggest you to use non-colored transparency.

1.do you have Paint.net?
2.If so, search the Paint forum, and find+download Boltbait's plug-in pack.
3.Open the sprite and mask.
4.press Ctrl-a on the mask,
5.On main sprite, go to Effects>Objects>paste alpha.
6.Mess with the transparency.
7.Go to Effects>Objects>Convert Alpha to gray
8.Paste this as the mask.
9.Ctrl-Z on the original to undo the conversion.
10.Make the background black.
11.done.(I'm not sure that transparency works that well in smbx, but this should work. It's probably a lot easier than using random shades of gray until you get the right one.

It only works with NPC's, Blocks, Player's (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Link, In-Level Movements Files.)
And! Lighter the Gray more of the Transparent, & Darker the Gray less of Transparent.
Has this Helped?

That's not quite right. Transparency is possible with any graphic that has a mask.
