The Reputation Mod - Complaint

This thread has no intention of backseat moderating. The sole purpose of it is to tell users that SOMETHING is not a SOMETHING deal and that SOME PEOPLE need to calm down.

I have seen users complaining about getting downreps or begging/wanting upreps. Please note that reputation is just a mod and that it is SO OBNOXIOUS to constantly see remarks about it. It does not determine popularity. There is no consequence for having the least reputation or reward for having the most reputation, so please stop begging/complaining. At first I was going to contact the administrators about this but I think it's better to release this to the public; just note it is very immature to make such a huge deal out of a little mod - at this point, I would remove the rep system, but I have to authority to; so normal users, please stop begging/complaining, and moderators/administrators, if you think this is a problem too, perhaps consider giving out consequences.

I just got a down rep for "not being serious enough" in a thread even though I was clearly saying something legitamite and relating to the thread but in a goofy way.

I think this system is corrupted.
