paint.net bucket tool issue

My paint fill tool leaves this "stain" type thing on nearby pixels when i use it. I have to recolor by pencil and it would be a lot easier to just paint bucket recolor.

Is there a way to stop this?

Uncheck the green potion and the "blending" pixel thing (images - the potion should be empty, and the pixel thing should be squared instead of rounded) on the toolbar.

Are you using the Paint.NET 4.0 beta or some equivalent? I'm using 3.something and don't have this problem with the tool at its default settings.

That's the problem with the updated version of Paint.Net. I installed it as well and had the same problem. By default, it comes with a smooth option that makes that happen. If you want to deactivate it, once you have the Bucket Tool selected, you'll see an extra option between the Fusion button and the Layer button. That button lets you change the smooth option to either off or on.
Turn it off and the problem shall solve.

I fixed it by turning antialiasing off

I think Paint.NET 4.0 for real (Not Beta) came out. I went on it yesterday and it told me to update Paint.Net.
