The entirety of available content on the Wii Shop Channel (with the exception of LostWinds and perhaps other software I don't know about) IS one of the selling points for the Wii U. It's strange to me that you, who would advocate buying the Wii U, would dismiss that as something that doesn't count.
Knowing that the Wii U eShop would require software porting and quality assurance, which takes time and money, Wii Mode was created to ensure that those purchases did, in fact, count.
Anyway:
3DS:
Legend of Zelda NES
Link's Awakening DX (one of the best Zelda games ever)
Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition
just zelda tingz
Wii Shop Channel:
Paper Mario
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Yoshi's Story
Gunstar Heroes
Super Mario Bros. 2 (JPN version)
Castlevania IV
MegaMan 3
MegaMan X
I plan to upgrade MOST of these to eShop when ported. Some already have been and I just haven't done it yet.
For Wii U eShop I also plan to get Super Mario Bros. 3, Wario Land 4, Metroid Fusion, MegaMan X2, MegaMan X3 (these two and the first one because Capcom's X Collection is a piece of shit that butchered the SNES titles), Demon's Crest, and Metroid Zero Mission(this one is currently unannounced but will probably happen eventually)
I really missed out on the Wario Land games. I got the original Wario Land but never bothered with the others until I bought Wario Land: Shake It! for Wii eons later.
