So, this was the contest from SMBX:R and I'm gonna be transferring it over here. http://smbx.boards.net/thread/1684/smbx ... ve-contest

The Creative Contest

It’s time for the new official forum contest, and we decided to make this one unique and original. This is why this contest’s theme is originality, because we believe that the community is defined by three things: friendship, creativity, and fun;

This contest has a definite theme, which is nature. This means participants can design any level they want as long as it is part of the broader theme. You can design forest, grassland, cave, underwater, outer space, mountain, volcano levels, or anything else which is part of the nature theme. This means indoor areas such as castles, ghost houses and themes that are not related to nature are prohibited entirely.

Below is a list of rules that all levels must abide by:

- The level must be part of the nature theme. As explained above, any level which is not related to the broader theme will be disqualified.
- The level must have a unique concept at its core. We want level creators to make players think about ways of completing the level and passing all the difficulties and obstacles.
- The level must have an adequate length and difficulty. The level mustn’t be impossible to complete without the use of cheat codes, or too easy to complete. Also, the level mustn’t be too short and must have at least two sections.
When submitting your level, you must include a working download link (preferably on dropbox, google drive, skydrive, iCloud or any other cloud storage service) and at least one screenshot in the submission message. You must also say what theme your level is based on.

Judges and Judging Criteria

The judges of this contest are:
- Kyo
- SuperMario7
- Aeon

The levels will be judged depending on the following aspects:

- The creativity of the concept at the level’s core. Your level has to be creative in order to receive a high score, and smart gameplay development is the way to go.
- The environment and the graphics of the level, depending on how beautiful and fitting they are.
- The creativity and uniqueness of the obstacles and gimmicks of the level. Your level must have creative mechanisms in it in order to receive a good score.

Note that the level score is represented by the arithmetic mean of the scores received for the abovementioned aspects.

- You can't reveal any information regarding the level. Doing so will get your level disqualified.

To participate, simply submit your level to reghrhre. I will then redirect them to the judges. The deadline of this contest is the 31st of January.

Good luck, and let the most creative level win!

A prize awaits the winner. (Ehh, I gotta think of one rather)

It's a wee bit early for the next contest. I heard it was going to start in early February, not now.

Oh well, I have literally all next week, so I'll see what I can do.

Well, this wasn't exactly a official forum contest since I guess contests from Knux's forum are considered official, this is just a contest that got created on the SMBX:R forum which was exclusively made just for SMBX:R, not Knux's forum. But since we're merging I just decided to bring this thread over here. Also, made this thread global so it's noticed

I have an idea for a world map that these levels are placed in. All the levels are placed on a large mountain, and the order you play them is from the lowest ranked to the highest ranked, wherein the highest ranked is at the very top of the mountain. Then, you could also divide the levels even further by having the top 3, honorable mentions, etc. divided into their own cliff sides on the mountain.

For a story, it could just be a simple matter of the Mario brothers going on a vacation to a dangerous mountain island.

What do YOU think?

Good idea, but since it's nature themed it might make better sense to place them in order of topography.
P.S. I'll join to see.

I think I might try this one out. Although, just like before, I can't make any promises I'll ever finish it.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, I honestly don't have any ideas for a plot so any suggestions or welcome, I'm not really sure if I'll make an episode neither though, we'll see. But yeah, the idea is pretty good

Wow, I actually quite like this idea, though I'm unsure whether it's work in practise.

Anyway, I have a great idea for the creative contest and now I will finally start my entry.

Is making an episode for it really necessary? A zip with all the levels would be enough imo. I really dislike those contest episodes personally, I find them rather unnecessary to have to play through the whole episode, especially how you play through the 'worse' levels before playing the better ones.

Aeon has a point, but an episode would make it easier for others to play all the levels. Maybe you set it up somehow so that you can beat the levels in any order, but you have to complete a majority to progress?
