I can't make a custom graphic.

Okay. I really want to make a custom NPC. The problem is, that whenever I edit one of the graphics, it just says "Access Denied" and won't let me edit anything in SMBX. I need serious help right now. How do I allow myself to edit SMBX's files?

Are you logged in as an administrator? That's all I can think of.

I am an administrator, but I don't know how to make it editable.

This sounds like an issue with your Windows filesystem. Make sure you have proper permissions to write to files. A quick google of "Access denied when trying to save images" will probably help.

This happens to me on my Windows Vista, and it only started happening to me when I installed SMBX 1.3.0.1 and the files were in the Program Files directory. A simple move to the desktop and I can save files now. If you have a Vista, this might be the case.

I have Windows 8, and when I did that, SMBX wouldn't open up. I had to move it back to Program Files.

I know this is the wrong forum, but the help forum isn't posting at all. I do have my own level that's WIP (it isn't that good, since it's my first level) but it never shows up in my worlds folder. I need to add custom graphics to that level for testing but I can't edit anything in the program files folder. It always says "access denied". Please help with this.

Uhm, what do you mean with this?

Try to put your level with his folder in an another folder into SMBX. May remove SMBX too from the programme files and put only in the disk C will help you.

Don't just move the exe file. Move the entire SMBX folder.
I always have mine in the directory C:\\SMBX\

Ah, thank you for pointing this out, 8bit.

Like he said, this is probably because SMBX now by default installs to the Program Files directory. I was unaware that this issue would occur but it actually makes a lot of sense. We'll have this fixed for 1.3.0.2. For now, just move your SMBX folder to a different directory (like your desktop, or C:\SMBX).
