Amplitude Area (Featuring the most awesome boss in SMBX)

Postby Mudkip » Tue Jun 17, 2014 6:11 pm

Yo guys
Today I present to you Amplitude Area, a level I made out of boredom, thinking about to put it into my episode. It contains many Kirby enemies and the boss is actually really popular among the Kirby fans. And if you compare it with the original one you'll almost see no difference.

Screens:
Spoiler: show

Boss tips SPOILER ALERT:
Spoiler: show
In order to beat Marx, you have to stomp on his head several times. However, that isn't possible when he is shining/sparking. The arrows are spin-jump able. Don't worry about losing against him at the first few tries. He's ridiculously hard if you don't know his move-set well. Have fun. Oh, and please keep in mind, the black hole is dangerous.
PLAY IT ON START GAME. IF YOU'RE PLAYING IT ON THE LEVEL EDITOR YOU GET SPOILER'D

Download:
Download Amplitude Area here :3

Credits: If I forgot you, pls notify me.
Boss ~Mudkip and thanks to Drshnaps for ripping it and Gooniez for the background
Neon Tileset ~Emral (And to me for some few additions :P)
Final Section tileset ~Mudkip
Checkpoint ~Dragonmaster143 (Excuse me if the numbers are wrong)
Various Kirby NPCs ~Valterri
Holographic Dragon Coin ~Emral
HP Bar ~Mudkip
Background, other Kirby NPCs and more were found in the CGFX Pack.

The level designs are nice, but I don't really think anyone would want a really hard boss. (Only saying)

^ The boss is actually really easy if you know his moves. Kyo and MECHDRAGON777/Fujiwara no Mokou died against him likely 50 times. Elitalianoverde only 5 times. Depends on your skills, too :P

^ is it somehow possible to change the thumbnail bossedit8? You're spoiling the boss <.<

Anyways, thank you really much for the video! The download I put up there is an updated version btw.

I already made it in a Spoiler. Thumbnail does not really want to change, sadly. And I am adding your Download Link on my Video Description.

I didn't make it... The boss was really hard. The left side was quite tough after choosing a path.

A few bad things - I liked the rest
1. The shotzos only turn when they fire, which is kinda misleading
2. The Bombers effects are really icky-looking - they only have a few frames and it moves quick
3. This is kinda weird but why is Marx another level?
4. When Marx comes out of the ground he moves up kinda mechanically instead of parabolically like KSS
5. Might I suggest looping several backgrounds together to make the star background smoother?
666. THE BLACK HOLE IS SO CHEAP I DID NOT KNOW IT WOULD DO THAT ARGHHHHHHHHHHH
7. Is it just me or does he run on the same attacks in a loop?
8. The ending is rather weird - Why do you go to another room?

The best part of all this was that it was obvious you put effort into all of this - if you released it as a graphics pack I would rate it 10/10!

inb4 bramble blast level for queen sectonia
I already said this on skype but I think posts need constructive stuff and criticism or at least praises.
I like this level. It's beautiful because it uses my tileset, big because it's your level and has tons of stuff you need to watch out for.

Well, I don't know where we've got a problem here. It looks better when it is set like this. And it looks more confusing, which kind of the theme of this level is.
FanofSMBX wrote:2. The Bombers effects are really icky-looking - they only have a few frames and it moves quick
Bombs have a quick effect, I can't do anything about it. And I can't make them bigger.
FanofSMBX wrote:3. This is kinda weird but why is Marx another level?
Marx has to many events for the level. And I set it on restart level on death so it kinda is a checkpoint.
FanofSMBX wrote:4. When Marx comes out of the ground he moves up kinda mechanically instead of parabolically like KSS
I'm sorry I couldn't copy KSS completely. Sorry that this is kinda impossible. Do you want the sounds, too?
FanofSMBX wrote:5. Might I suggest looping several backgrounds together to make the star background smoother?
666. THE BLACK HOLE IS SO CHEAP I DID NOT KNOW IT WOULD DO THAT ARGHHHHHHHHHHH
Unfortunately we don't have eight backgrounds which share the same size and we don't have a limitless amount of events. And it should be kind of obvious the blck hole would kill you directly. It is a black hole. If you didn't know he was going for the black hole even if there was that 28 frames animation you have to be stupid.
FanofSMBX wrote:7. Is it just me or does he run on the same attacks in a loop?
Yeah. It is impossible make the events trigger random other events.
FanofSMBX wrote:8. The ending is rather weird - Why do you go to another room?
You can't kill the events (If you're not using lunadll) so I had to warp the player to the next room. Otherwise he would still attack you, even if he is beaten.

FanofSMBX, did you ever made a level by yourself or did you ever learn how to use events? Just sayin', no offense.

This was recorded a long time ago! IE, when he just finnished it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlV1pdj4LLU&hd=1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q_oUfU5FJk&hd=1
Spoiler for my Peach/Rosalina Run through and all characters run through!
Spoiler: show

I will record this with each of the four characters since you said Skill level! I challenge any one to beat the boss with less then 52 deaths with Peach/Rosalina!

I just did my run with all four characters, and I saw why I failed so much in the boss fight! The hit box seems to be a little glitchy! I died by jumping on the boss's head!
I did the level with 6 deaths in the level with Mario, 10 in the boss!
Unsure of my level death count with Luigi
0 deaths with Peach/Rosalina in the level and boss
0 deaths in the level with Toad and 3 or 4 in the boss!

If you want the exact, you can do the math with my death count in the top right when the video finishes uploading!

After a long time, I will play and I will review that level. I will take a long time to do that (it's because I don't want to do this now )
