Capcom lost its takeover defense

Now anybody can purchase 51% of Capcom shares to get to own Capcom o:
n a new twist, Capcom is technically available to purchase. While they have been a third party company since the beginning, stockholders voted to end their takeover defense, which has been in place since 2008. Essentially, that means their stock is available to be purchased by any big company, and should someone want, they can purchase a 51% share stake and get console exclusivity for their various IP. While that doesn't mean someone will pay the hefty amount of money required for a takeover, it is now a very real possibility.

I don't want Sony to have it.
I don't want Microsoft to have it.
I don't want Google to have it.
Only Nintendo. Period.

Yeah Nintendo are the only ones who can be trusted with Capcom now, after how wonderfully they've treated Mega Man in Sm4sh. I really hope they decide to purchase it.

Plzzzzzz. Nintendo treats Megaman waaaaaaaaaaay more better than Capcom. It's too obvious to be even mentioned

I could accept Re-Logic buying Capcom as well. After all, they DID make Terraria.

Can you please stop with your Terraria obsessions. Re-Logic buying Capcom is the shittiest idea ever. I see Nintendo as the most reliable source, since Nintendo and Capcom had strong bonds in the earlier days.

except imagine the scale difference between re-logic and a company like
nintendo.
sounds ridiculous and unlikely to me, re-logic getting a hold of capcom.

But in all seriousness, who WOULD take it? I guess Nintendo would be the most logical outcome. Microsoft and Google is America based; what would they want with a failing eastern video game company? This is all assuming someone wants to take it. 's best not to assume these things, because who the hell knows what'll happen? Atlus went under and they got bought up by Sega of all companies. Anything can happen.
What has Nintendo done for Megaman anyway? Don't say "Include him in Smash Bros they're so cool."

It's a shitty idea because Re-Logic could never afford to buy intellectual property from Capcom.

So apparently Capcom is not "officially" up for sale (source from r/nintendo:
http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news ... 0616a.html). I'm not really sure if this actually means anything but they at least don't want to be seen as giving up on themselves.

Nintendo is one of the few companies I'd trust with revitalizing Capcom's franchises but I agree in that I don't think it's necessarily the profitable decision to buy an entire burning ship just to salvage items that look like gold (to fans who play video games) but couldn't be determined so without further study.
The problem is either that Capcom doesn't know what to do with them or that they're just not profitable anymore. Or a mix of both.
I would love to see Nintendo do more with MegaMan but I don't know if I even care about the rest of it.

Capcom is not "for sale", Capcom is not bankrupt or anything, they're operating the same way as ever, they just lose the takeover protection, in other words, if somebody purchase Capcom stocks that counts up to 51% of the company, becomes the owner of the company. Or that's how I understand it o:
I'm amazed nobody ever mentions Sega or other third parties as possibilities to purchase Capcom. You know, so the company stays multi-platform.
Also according to Japanese laws, International companies can't purchase japanese companies through traditional means. So Microsoft can't purchase it directly.

Yeah yeah I'm pretty sure the first thing you said is exactly right. Because of that, though, couldn't Microsoft take control of Capcom anyways by buying 51% of of its stocks? Like you said, it wouldn't technically be buying the company. Of course, I really have little to no understanding of these laws but it seems like it could be a loophole.

Seriously, why the assumptions that companies like Microsoft, EA, Sony, etc. would even consider something like that?
What leads you all to believe that?

Guess i'm not the only one who thinks Nintendo should grab up Capcom.. but this IS Nintendo we're talking about.. As much as we might wish it.. and as much as i would like to see it happen.. Nintendo is not known for doing such things.
First thing i would do is fire all the head honchos running Capcom into the ground.
Then i would listen to the Fans and make some damn MegaMan games, bring back breath of fire.. make a new Ghouls and Ghosts game.. or Ghosts and Goblins.. not sure anymore what that series is called lol.
The IPs that Capcom has in it's possession hold a LOT potential in the right hands, and i think Nintendo could make the most of it.
I dread seeing MS or EA grab them up.. as MS would just lock em in a dungeon like they did rare to work on stupid crap... and EA is about as bad..
If Sony had the money, i would say that they should buy up capcom if Not Nintendo..
If Nintendo does not jump on this, i pity them.
