Lock-your-own-topics

Postby FanofSMBX » Sun Jun 15, 2014 8:14 pm

Remember when you could lock your help topics? I suggest to have this functionality for the whole forum, so moderators are not required to do this themselves.

Hm. I don't think over the whole forum sounds like a good idea, but this could be useful for help topics and graphic requests too. The only thing that concerns me is members locking the topic right after their question is answered without letting anyone else continue with their own related questions if they have the same issue.

This seems like a good idea to me too. GhostHawk, it seems like moderators often lock topics right after their questions are answered anyways. I do agree that it should probably be limited somehow though.

I don't know, I think we should actually tone it down on the locking a bit. Especially for Help and Support topics, as someone could be having the same problem.

I think it it better to have it only on Graphic Requests in my opinion. Also, I do not know if that permission is really necessary here.

...That just sounds like it could get bad.

We shouldn't actually do that cause like Joey said some people will maybe have the same problems.

People would abuse this feature here is a example:

Person1 makes a new topic
Person2 posts something in it
Person1 feels offended by and get's butthurt therefore locks the thread
THE END

IIRC this was done in NSMBX and people didn't abuse this whatsoever. I can't exactly remember if we really did allow this feature. IMO, I think this would be a great feature and if people make dumb topics or lock their topics for the wrong reason or whatever then simply (verbally) warn/ban them; easy.

I agree with GhostHawk. This should only be allowed for certain forums like Projects, Episodes, Levels, and Graphics. It definitely shouldn't be applied for the entire forum because users can abuse it and lock threads that people want to post in, prompting them to start a thread on the same subject.

I don't think I'm going to implement this, sorry. I don't want the number of locked topics increasing.

That does sound like a good idea. Especially if you un minded-ly made a topic you regret.

Like some people... Not going to say any names .. <_<

But yes, this would be a cool feature to have if people knew how to control it properly. I am a level judge so to me it's not necessary for the Levels, Episodes or Projects forums, as I can already edit any post, lock topics or move them.

Well people would want to lock their own episodes, levels, and projects. Besides a lot of people aren't a level judge. Also think about the graphics and art board areas too.

I say we have a poll!!! :D

Why would people want to lock their own level topics. Theo nly time they are ever locked is if the person is stealing a level from someone else, or if there isnt any screenshots of the level. Otherwise there is no need for locking them.

Yes, for obvious reasons. Just like staff members, there are only select amount of members as level judges because of the responsibilities that come with it. We can't just have any random person have the power to lock topics, edit posts and other stuff with Levels now.

Also Joey already said he wasn't going to do it, why are we still having discussion?
