Re: Let's discuss this

come on guys
this is ridiculous
this is ridiculous
Me making a couple of jokes about their contest on IRC doesn't justify the constant hate our contest gets from them, the spam submissions I get from them ridiculing every rule I created, or the blatant insults they even said about our board theme. And honestly it seemed like they kickbanned me so they could continue bashing me behind my back which is actually really obnoxious. I was asking if they were talking shit about me and got kickbanned. Yeah, that'll definitely prevent a shitstorm. And the fact that they decided to ban everyone who tried to join after me can't be excused, that's flat out discrimination.Ignoritus wrote:For the record, rather than joining the angry mob, I actually went into #talkhaus and politely asked why Valtteri was banned.
Valtteri got mad that someone "talked shit about him behind his back" (they said he "seemed like a dumb butt", not exactly a severe comment (Furthermore that's so hypocritical it's unimaginable given how much he talked behind Talkhaus's back)), and an operator banned him because he came in trying to start shit. The operator at no point implied the ban was to be permanent, it was just meant to stop him from starting a massive flame war.
So no, Valtteri was not banned for "no reason".
"Couple" of "Jokes". Do you want me to get the logs? It was incessant bitching, accusations that the contest was biased, claims that the contest was horrendously run, etc. etc. For about a week. That's not a "couple of jokes".Valtteri wrote: Me making a couple of jokes about their contest on IRC doesn't justify the constant hate our contest gets from them,
Because the SMBX community members never submit spam ever.Valtteri wrote:the spam submissions I get from them ridiculing every rule I created
It's a board theme. Holy shit. It's a board theme. It's not a personal insult to this community or anyone in it.Valtteri wrote:or the blatant insults they even said about our board theme.
<Valtteri> <cat> especially that valterri chap who just comes across as a big dumb buttValtteri wrote:And honestly it seemed like they kickbanned me so they could continue bashing me behind my back which is actually really obnoxious. They interpreted the people joining in sequence to complain about a ban (and potentially go ahead and start more drama themselves) as a raid and handled it as such. If you banned someone from #smbx and then a bunch of their friends started joining to complain in the channel, would you not interpret that as a raid based on a decision you as the operator made by your own judgement?Valtteri wrote: And the fact that they decided to ban everyone who tried to join after me can't be excused, that's flat out discrimination.

Still doesn't excuse my permanent IRC ban.Ignoritus wrote:"Couple" of "Jokes". Do you want me to get the logs? It was incessant bitching, accusations that the contest was biased, claims that the contest was horrendously run, etc. etc. For about a week. That's not a "couple of jokes".
It's true. Never once has a user from our community gone on to ridicule the rules. This person took the instructions I gave regarding packing your level, and intentionally did everything wrong.Ignoritus wrote:Because the SMBX community members never submit spam ever.

I dunno how well Joey took this but I personally was hurt by this.Yogui wrote:Not to be rude, but the design of the SMBX forum is terrible. Good thing you can go in your setting to make the forum look like a normal forum and not a mess of smb3 cubes.
Also good thing you can also hide signatures as a lot of users have busy signatures that's two time bigger than there posts. Well doesn't matter since I probably won't go on this forum ever again.
I think a passive aggressive tone is suitable in a situation where you're being bashed behind your back.Ignoritus wrote:<Valtteri> <cat> especially that valterri chap who just comes across as a big dumb butt
<Valtteri> ok!
<Valtteri> you guys talking shit about me behind my back? :)
<Valtteri> that's always good
You didn't come in and politely ask, you came in with a passive aggressive tone that made it evident you were looking to start shit.
Of course I would, but I would never ban anyone because I want to keep talking behind their back.Ignoritus wrote:They interpreted the people joining in sequence to complain about a ban (and potentially go ahead and start more drama themselves) as a raid and handled it as such. I like how you change your story when I call you out on your bullshit. Also my point wasn't that it did, my point is that complaint about the contest criticisms and talking behind peoples backs is hypocritical. ALSO your ban wasn't permanent until you started this shitstorm.Valtteri wrote: Still doesn't excuse my permanent IRC ban.
To be honest as a one time joke that sounds hilarious and I think you need to stop being so damn uptight about it. Doing that once is not exactly mass spam.Valtteri wrote: It's true. Regardless of whether or not it hurt you, it was not intended to and thus you really can't hold them to it as if it was intended as an insult.Valtteri wrote: I dunno how well Joey took this but I personally was hurt by this.
"comes across as a big dumb butt" wow big flames must be taken super seriously. And either way, you should have taken it up with them privately rather than trying to start public drama with them.Valtteri wrote: I think a passive aggressive tone is suitable in a situation where you're being bashed behind your back.
So you just confessed that you would have done the exact same thing that you're complaining that operator did seeing as the operator didn't ban you to "keep talking behind your back". That's all I needed to hear.Valtteri wrote: Of course I would, but I would never ban anyone because I want to keep talking behind their back.
no.Septentrion Pleiades wrote:I missed most of the drama, but does this means the Talkhaus are the bad guys who invade the tower of biased 7?
I admit I bashed their contest behind their backs but at least I didn't ban them when they found out. And oh, they made the ban permanent when I addressed the issue? That's perfect.Ignoritus wrote:I like how you change your story when I call you out on your bullshit. I didn't say it's mass spam. It's just the complete lack of respect they radiate. At least I submitted a real honest level to their contest and did everything right, I only started showing disrespect as they started posting results.Ignoritus wrote:To be honest as a one time joke that sounds hilarious and I think you need to stop being so damn uptight about it. Of course it was, it had no relation to the topic the user posted it in whatsoever (it was a topic regarding our contest, not the whole forum and the community in general). He just wanted to let everyone know how little he appreciates us.Ignoritus wrote:Regardless of whether or not it hurt you, it was not intended to and thus you really can't hold them to it as if it was intended as an insult.
I fail to see the difference. My complaints would ultimately have been directed to the public anyway, judging from how incompetent and disinterested the operators proved to be.Ignoritus wrote:"comes across as a big dumb butt" wow big flames must be taken super seriously. ??? But that's exactly what she banned me for? And no, I refuse to believe the reason was to prevent me from "starting shit" as that's the most retarded thing I've heard in my life. Banning me in that situation was bound to start shit anyway. And it did. Why keep me banned anymore anyway. No, it was clearly so they could resume bashing me without me having the possibility to respond.Ignoritus wrote:So you just confessed that you would have done the exact same thing that you're complaining that operator did seeing as the operator didn't ban you to "keep talking behind your back". They made it permanent because you started a shitstorm. There are mature ways to address and issue. And then there's.... what you did.Valtteri wrote: I admit I bashed their contest behind their backs but at least I didn't ban them when they found out. Once again, I think you took a joke way too seriously.Valtteri wrote: I didn't say it's mass spam. It's just the complete lack of respect they radiate. It had relevance because he was browsing our forums in order to look at the contest topic. Furthermore, you're blaming the entirety of the Talkhaus for the comments of one user.Valtteri wrote: Of course it was, it had no relation to the topic the user posted it in whatsoever (it was a topic regarding our contest, not the whole forum and the community in general). The difference is in attempt. You didn't even TRY to handle the matter privately and maturely. You just assumed that the operators were incompetent and then made a mess.Valtteri wrote: I fail to see the difference. I'm genuinely beginning to believe you suffer from paranoia with this comment. You actually think that everyone was sitting in that channel bashing on you, and then banned you when you joined so they could go back to it? Are you literally insane? They were watching a god damn movie. They saw someone come in and immediately try to start a fight. They banned them figuring that if they joined the channel specifically to start shit that they weren't going to contribute anything. That is what happened. None of your paranoid delusions are going to change that fact.Valtteri wrote: ??? But that's exactly what she banned me for? I thought it was you because of the thing the spammer posted. It was some pony fanfic you wrote once but with #Talkhaus names instead of ponies. I know that sounds pretty stupid, so I'm sorry for this.Knux wrote:Valtteri hadn't said anything before he was banned and the logs prove it.
Also, can someone care to explain how Joey came to the conclusion it was me who flooded the channel? I didn't, and that has been cleared up now, but I want to know who thought it was me.
