Ultimate Universe (CANCELLED (as you expected most likely))

NOTES

Ultimate Universe is Kep's eighth attempt to create a project. This is basically a galaxy-like game in 2D, and while this idea is not innovative, I'm going to make it innovative by adding new power-ups, more secrets, a better galaxy variety, and new gimmicks. Anyhow, something I should add is that this episode will not support multi-player mode. This episode will also have prankster comets and challenges. Each galaxy will have three stars, EXCEPT a certain special galaxy which will have five stars for a good reason. If you're interested to know, each galaxy will be extremely short, but there will be a lot of them (a tiny bit more than thirty excluding the Hub, title screen, outro, and into. So this is like quantity of quality, and even though that's not a good thing, if I aim for quality over quantity I always end up cancelling my episodes. Therefore, I need to stick to something else. For another note, I plan to kind of rush this episode due to me having some kind of (should I call it disease, disability, or none of the above?) that prevents me from sticking to one thing that long. Fortunately, though, there is going to be advanced testing by not only me, but Darkonius Mavakar who applied to be a beta tester about ten minutes after the creation of this thread. Anyway, please check this thread back for updates, and until July 1st I will be quite inactive (I'm going on vacation for a week and I have no access to the computer at all, and I'm going to have company for a week at my house after that but I will still be on the forums). STORY/PLOT
(Take note there is going to be an intro in the game itself that also covers the plot, so don't feel like to have to read this of for the game to make sense.)

Mario decided to go to the beach, and then he went down a pipe. Ardent to see what's in it, he then went down it, came back out and there was a red switch. He hit it. Out of nowhere, a voice said, "Stupid fool, always falling for my tricks". After this disembodied voice smoke, a door appeared. He went in it, and when he came out, he was in a spaceship. Mysteriously, Peach, Rosalina, and all of the Toads were already on this ship. However, none of them want to tell Mario why they're here, but they all seem to know.

WARNING: This episode has a really unpredictable and dark ending. No, not the dark like pitch black, but dark like sad, brutal, and scary. I'm pretty sure everyone can handle that, though.

INTRO/OUTRO/HUB
I am going to make a custom intro and outro for this game. (The outro is the credits, the intro is the game select.)

The Hub is going to be the spaceship. Very similar to New Super Mario Galaxy X, you roam around this spaceship and go to worlds one, two, three, four, five, and six.

Levels in green means complete, levels in blue means started, levels in purple mean the level is being tested, and red means a level has not been started.

How will you add new powerups?
Also I think the orange part in the screen with the sledge bro looks bland. How about the SMB3 background tile BGOs?

I worded that confusingly. I meant that I'd replace default powerups with other power-ups.

Erm... that is a boss. I think adding vegetation would be a bit awkward to have in a boss stage, right? I, however, will consider adding some more lamps and pillars.

I meant, the orange wall looks bland. How about using the metal wall BGOs (like the one that is also the Battle SMB3 background)?

Thanks for applying, I frankly didn't expect to have someone willing to be a beta tester about ten minutes after I created this thread. In other words, you're accepted onto the team since I already know you're a great designer. And whether this is relevant or not, I have WinRAR now, so if you can't for whatever reason get .zips to work I will be happy to change the format to .RAR when I give you the download to the first world.

Oh, sorry. I'm only accepting one beta tester; I specified that earlier in this thread (after Darkonius applied, I deleted the entire paragraph about beta testing info in the original thread). Otherwise, thanks for the nice and encouraging words!

Good project, i like the screens, the design seem good and fun to play, the graphics is nice. Has parts what is tight, maybe is bad or not in the gameplay. Good job , i hope more this! :)

So, I'm not entirely sure if Ultimate Universe is going to be successful at the moment due to lack of ideas and innovation, but that does NOT mean I will never go back to it (so Darkonius, don't get disappointed: I WILL get back into it even if it's 2017) as I certainly will get some inspiration for it again soon, hopefully. Anyway, I would like to get some ideas/recommendations/questions. Here is some info:

Name: Boo's Ultimate Triumph
Levels: 42 (This amount COULD decrease but I doubt it will increase)
Level style: SMB3 styled, short levels with (hopefully) superb quality
Worlds: 6 (7 counting the special world)
World Styles: Grass/Garden/Jungle/Autumn, Cave/Grotto/Mushrooms, Beach/Water/Stormy, Sky/Cliff/Airship, Space/Moon/Rainbow, Ghost House/Haunt/Spooky/Mansion/Puzzle, Special/Crown/Master/Secret
Plot: Luigi gets kidnapped by Boo. Mario and Peach are on a mission to save him. (In the project thread, this plot WILL be expanded to something more interesting/intricate.)

I am open to recommendations/questions/ideas.

NOTE: I will NOT be using LunaDLL, FanofSMBX.

You should shorten it to about 10 levels (something like the princess cliche) and make 4 of them, this way if you lose interest, we'll at least have something. Other than that, sounds kinda cool. But don't restrict yourself to SMB3, in my opinion it gets boring after a while.
