If this is not the right place to ask this question please let me know. I am referring to the Princess Cliche. I have seen videos where you can pick up plants from the ground SMB2 style, but I can't seem to do it. Also, I could not figure out how to pick up the eggs that the pink dino spits at you. I have tried pressing run and this in combination with many other things. I have tried pressing all the buttons that are mapped to something in the options. As a side note, I find it really frustrating that I have to ask to find out how to do this. I have tried googling it and can't find anything. I also could not finda anything on these forums. I tried googling more generic questions like SMBX controls and the answers I find are lies like people saying that the game shows you all the controls on in the options and you can set them all right there. Obviously these are only some of the controls or they are not telling you what else these buttons can do. I don't get it, shouldn't everyone else be asking this same question and the answer be readily available? Either I am really stupid or everyone else is, and neither of those options make any sense to me, what's going on?

You can pick a Burried NPC, almost any SMB2 Enemies and so on by pressing the 'Down' Button and while holding the 'down' button press the 'Run' Button. While holding an Item on your hands you only need the 'Run' Button...

I have tried that many times. It doesn't seem to work for me. I will try it again though, thanks.

Really? For me it works without problems. In SMBX it works different compared to SMB2. Over there you only need the run button to pick stuff up but in SMBX you need Down and Run Button to pick something up.

OK, that works. Apparently I always pushed run before down, which feels really intuitive to me for some reason. Thanks for the help. Is this how it worked in SMB2?

No, in SMB2 you have to press only the run button.

Also, I recommend you to play the invasion 2 before the princess cliche. It has some basic tutorials of the game.

You press the down button and the x button to get items from under ground.
