Wario respriting issues.

I'm helping a friend out with a SMW styled SMBX2 episode, and they really wanted to have Wario as a playable character. I have somewhat good knowledge on how to resprite characters, as I've done so with Mario and Luigi before. However, when loading Wario into the Character Calibrator, I noticed that the hitboxes aren't actually lined up with his sprites at all, unlike with Mario.

So I tried to just line up the sprites with the original placements since the base Wario sprites weren't too much bigger I thought. However, while this did work for the most part, adding in any custom frames at all displaced them, even when I aligned them in the editor.

I'm wondering if there's anyway to fix this? I'm somewhat new to editing animations for SMBX2, and I couldn't find anything on Wario specifically since he seems to have his hitboxes coded differently than other characters like Mario.
If it helps, the script I'm using to add extra frames to Wario is from this post.
