Mystery Turnip

Ok, so SMBX has 3 turnip sprouts, but only 2 fully grown turnips. Any ideas as to what the 3rd turnip is?

What?
The ? Turnip is supposed to be a random veggie selector (mostly used for sprouts npc)

It's a "randomizer" turnip, usually used as a buried item.
