SURPRISE! Small vanilla contest starts NOW!
This is experimental. People are busy during the holidays. So I'll keep it simple and quick.
THE PREMISE
Create your first release of the new year. Your level MUST be submitted during your timezone's January 1.
You can start designing NOW. You can also be done designing tomorrow. But you must submit on that day. (If you have no means of accessing a PC on that day to submit just submit via PM and I'll not open the PM until submission close and we can pretend)
OPTIONAL BONUS THEME
This serves inspiration. It doesn't affect your score. I encourage people to consider this theme, but no pressure.
Your level may utilize one of the following in an interesting or unique way:
- Snowball (Fliprus or Spike)
- Starman (SMB2, SMW or Invincibility Monitor)
- Bob-omb (SMB2, SMB3, SMW)
RULES
- ONE SMBX2 Beta 5 level per person
- Common sense stuff like "don't steal", "follow the forum rules"
- NO TEAMS but you may help each other out as much as you want. The level should just be clearly discernible as the submitting individual's work.
- VANILLA RULES. NOT VANILLISH. ONLY SUBMIT A LVLX AND THE MUSIC FILES YOU USED.
- MESSAGE BOXES ARE BANNED (this includes talking NPCs and events that show a message)
- SUBMISSIONS EXCEEDING 3MB IN SIZE WILL BE IGNORED.
- Enable the LEVEL TIMER in Level Settings. Your level must be beatable from any starting point (start point and any check point) within a total of 300 seconds. (you may choose to put a shorter timer)
- One exit (any except palace switch), as many SMW stars or star coins as you want. All SMW stars/star coins + exit must be reasonably obtainable within the time limit as well.
- I judge the levels based on how invested i am in their gameplay (laughing crying cheering, simple dumb fun or unexpected surprises). real quality-over-quantity type judging so keep that in mind.
