LoZ World Map Graphics will save your time to staighten it for your needs! i originally used this for a zelda episode, but i originally had the idea to share it to you guys!

Screenshots: (Note: This is for SMBX2 Beta 5 only, however, it could work in older versions) I also included Zelda II Graphics if you want more graphics for villages, temples, or ambushes!

I'm really surprised this hasn't been done before, even for legacy. Really cool to see though, nice work!
