SMBX: The Mysterious Lands
This will be my first project for Super Mario Bros. X. I have no idea on a release date because of progress and things that may occur over the development of this project, so don't ask for a release date. This project will use custom graphics from many wonderful and talented people. I will also be making tilesets specifically for the Episode, I may release them before this will be released so be on the look out. It will use various themes from a wide selection of Nintendo games (mostly Mario games), you will be loving the music from start to finish. This project uses a world map, no hub (I feel like they get used a lot). That is mainly it, have a look at the screenshots, world list, progress, soundtrack, etc. A banner and title will be made in the future as well.

The Story
It's a usual Mario story. Bowser takes Peach, Bowser runs off to build his own empire. You should understand the plot, but I may change it, if I can think of something way better than this.

Worlds
SMBX: The Mysterious Lands will have one large world map like SMW and NSMBU. There will be a total of 6 main worlds and a possibility of a Special World. The episode also includes 4 mini-worlds. Mini-worlds are worlds that contain 6 levels, the main worlds contain 10 or more. I don't have an exact amount of levels as of yet but as I get closer to finishing I will put it up.

World 1: Swampy Jungle: 1/? levels done, map done
World 2: Ancient Canyon Ruins: 0/? levels done, map done
World 3: Autumn Mountain: 2/? levels done, map unfinished
World 4: Icy-Blaze Glacier: 0/? levels done, map unfinished
World 4: Icy-Blaze Volcano: 0/? levels done, map unfinished
World 5: Haunted Hills: 0/? levels done, map done
World 6: Bowser's Badlands: 1/? levels done, map unfinished

World A: Seaside Cove: 0/6 levels done, map done
World B: Pipe Maze: 1/6 levels done, map unfinished
World C: Cloudy Skies 0/6 levels done, map unfinished
World D: Cherry Blossom Grove: 1/6 levels done, map done

Soundtrack
Music from many games will be used for the episode. Almost every level will have it's own music. Here is a good chunk of music that will be used.
*Double Cherry Pass (Super Mario 3D World)
*Athletic (Super Mario 3D World)
*Bowser's Big Bullet Brigade (Super Mario 3D World)
*Hands on Hall (Super Mario 3D World)
*Busted Bayou (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
*Windmill Hills (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
*Alpine Incline (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
*Frozen Frenzy (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
*Japan (Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii)
*Sewer (Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii)
*Train (Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii)
*Shrapnel Sandbar Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2.5)
*Dolphin Shoals (Mario Kart 8)
*The Sun Rises (Okami)
*Stickerbush Symphony (DKC2)
*Mining Melancholy (DKC2)
*Nimbus Land (Super Mario RPG)
*Fluffy Bluff Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2)
*Puzzle Plank Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2)
*Dry Dry Dunes by Syntope

Dang, you're one talented guy, great job on the things you got done so far! I love the custom graphics you're using, whilst still making good use of the standard SMBX tiles as well! The choice and amount of enemies seems fair, but I guess I can tell better as soon as a demo is up. I'm definitely supporting this! :)
Just the story you're using is quite overused by now, but as you said, maybe you'll come up with something great.

I like how you have a list of all the music that you're using in your levels so far. Haven't seen that here yet.

An idea: I could imagine World 4 kinda being like a back-tracking world. You know, first doing all the levels with the ice theme, then playing all the levels backwards with the volcano/lava theme. Would be quite an interesting twist - at least that's what I think. ;)

I may not be doing any demos. I haven't decided yet, as for world 4 it starts out in like a snowy ridge but as you go through the world it changes to a lava area. Much of the lava area is mixed in with ice sections so you'll be expecting ice physics and a few hard levels.

Releasing demos (or at least giving demos out to a small group of beta testers) might not be a bad idea. You won't be the only one playing the episode later; you need feedback from other persons, too.

A transition that progresses with each level? Also not a bad idea. Ice and volcano is always a pretty mean combination, so I guess it won't be easy indeed. :P

Judging from your post in another tread, would you like some stompable shy guys for Sakura Steppes?

May I recommend you use:
SilverDexoys's Modern Koopas
Waluigi's Shy Guys
Legendtony's Blarrgh
Redigit's Cannonball Bomb
Valtteri's Banzai Bill
Legendtony's Jumping Piranha Plant

All of them can be found in the Unlimited Gfx Pack. It's stickied in the Graphics subforum, you can't miss it.

The Modern Koopas was what I was going to use but I just didn't like them, I don't know why but I like the SMW recolored Koopas better.
I could not find the Shy Guy sprites you recommended.
I was planning on changing the Blargg
And The Banzai Bill and Jumping Piranha Plant I have changed

Have to see, the graphics you've chosen for each level have resulted in a very unique atmosphere!

My one concern is that you'll suffer from developer's burnout, as I did. Trying to make every single level the best can really ruin the whole project for you, so just remember to have fun while you design your levels. I really want to see this complete, not gonna lie

That was one problem I was surely hoping wouldn't happen. Hopefully with the ideas I have, I should be able to complete this project but I was also thinking I should focus more on 1 world at a time to get things done in an organized way.

Also currently working on a Beat Block level, Beat Block Bridge.

I love how much this resembles Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii. Keep up the great work!

NewerSMBW is what inspired to make a game, so I went with SMBX. Many elements will be from Newer since it that amazing and I played though the entire thing.

I do like them but the only problem is I was planing on using Stilt Guys in the level as well but unfortunately there is no Stilt Guy in that version and I don't want 2 different versions of Shy Guy sprites in one level.

Apparently the Shy Guys I got do not work properly now. I got them from the SMB3/Land Enemies/Custom and I replaced them with Goombas and the walk to the left without flaws but when they go right, they use the left animations as if they were walking backwards. I am unsure why this is happening, it worked fine the the Yoshi's island graphics, but these... idk.

I realized I forgot to add how many frames, that's what made it not work. But I got it fixed. So far Sakura Steppes is looking good! I may do something special with it... :P

First Demo
The demo is only one level, but I will put up more demos within the next few months. This demo features the level Sakura Steppes which will be in World D: Cherry Blossom Grove. This must be played in the level editor! You may use the tiles for your own levels, just make sure to give credit.

And I know it is only 1 level. Don't complain about it.

BTW, There are 3 Star Coins and some secrets.
Also feel free to record and make a video of the level!
