Bowser Jr: A New Beginning
A project that started back at the beginning of 2022 as a joke, and then turned into something bigger.

The Story:
Bowser Jr. got sent back to a time shortly after Super Mario Bros. 3. He decides that his best bet at getting back home would be to use his father's old Timulator, but unfortunately, it lies in Mario's hands now. Determined to prevent the Timulator from falling back into Koopa hands, Mario works with a group of ex-minions to make Bowser Jr.'s journey as treacherous as possible.

Features:
* Play as Bowser Jr., who can use his shell to plough through blocks and enemies.
* A total of 32 unique levels, split across eight worlds very loosely based on locales from SMB3.
* 3 optional star coins to collect in every level.
* A rank system to incentivize mastering the game's mechanics.
* A variety of Boom Booms to enjoy.
* Various crowns which can be used to augment Bowser Jr.'s mobility.
* A certain cursed key .

Looking good!! Looking at that one screenshot with Bowser Jr. talking though, if your episode is heavy on dialogue / story, may I suggest the usage of Little Dialogue? It's a great library for text related stuff.

In all seriousness though, this looks really promising! I love the asthetics & the gameplay. Really looking forward to this!

Icey of the devteam here, glad to see that the reception so far is positive!! We're putting a lot of work into this and I hope it pays off extremely well, a demo may be in the cards but I'd have to ask the project lead on that one.

Asked the team on this one and while there's no confirmation yet, the game shouldn't have all too much dialogue, 1-1 has it and that's it rn but some other stages may have dialogue in them, will send your suggestion to the project lead if he hasn't seen it yet, I tend to check these forums more than the other devs so I've basically tasked myself with the communications between the community and the devteam

We've picked up on this post but have decided to keep the current cover, we appreciate your offer to help on this project though

It's been a while, time for an update post!
Firstly, 3 new stages have been completed, meaning just under half of the planned levels for the game are finished. Here's a sneak peek at 'em:
Additionally, there's been a couple Lua changes as well. As you may notice, there's a new fancy indicator bar for the player's current rank to make it more clear how well you're doing at a glance. Additionally, the episode now uses LittleDialogue for its dialogue boxes. Thanks for suggesting that, Blake.
Lastly, we might as well reveal what the Cursed Key really does. Take it to the end of a stage to receive a special reward. Simple as that. No tricks. Nothing!

Icey here, thread's been a bit quiet and while teasers have been shown on the SMBX Discord server, I wanna post a teaser of my own here {for the peeps who aren't on the SMBX server} as an early christmas present of sorts. So here's a screenshot of 8-1, not only the first level of BJR's final world, but the first level on SMBX I've made like ever, with some assistance by Raptarr for the lighting since he knows how to actually work the editor I'd be happy to see the feedback once this drops in a playable form. No release date yet but we're working really hard on this I promise ♥

After being put into cryosleep for eight months, we're finally back. There have been some changes to the devteam, but we're back with a new teaser!


There's still a lot left to do, and there have been a few changes here and there, but most of the remaining stages have at least been planned out.

Ooh, I absolutely love the graphics in the first gif! Stupendous work! Keep it up.
