Fire Flower Island

Design & Gameplay: 8/10

This was a normal lengthy grass level with lots of water and moving platforms. Overall it reminded me of Yoshi's Island more than anything, probably because of said platforms.

This was a really good level design-wise, there were many different routes to explore and many secrets to find. Over all the level was a bit big though, and I almost got lost a few times. Big doesn't always mean good, sometimes a decent size makes a decent level.

This was pretty good though, the only thing that could've made this a bit more interesting would've been a few more gimmicks. I really liked the 8-Red-Coin gimmick though, that gives you a timestop switch as reward. Pretty neat.

Gfx: 9/10

The tileset was great, it was unique, it was custom.
The earth and the mushrooms looked realistic, the fire flowers bgo's gave the level charme, the blocks looked a bit too cartoony tough.
Over all, this was great, bgos were used in all the right places, the water looked beautiful, really good.

Music: 7/10

First glance: Where is the music?
Second glance: Oh, the creator of the level appearantly changed the name of the .mp3 file after making the level.
This is a mistake that can happen to everyone, but the player really shouldn't have to change anything in the files before being able to play it.

Well, I listened to the music file, and at least it would've fit the level. It sounds like it's from one of the M&L games and sounds very cheery and light, perfect for a grassland level like this.

NPCs: 5/10

There was a good ammount of power-ups, not too much and not too little.

Enemies were okay, but nothing too exciting. There are SMB3 styled Galoombas, normal SMB3 Koopas, Piranhas, Cheep Cheep, Bullet Bills, the ususal. To be honest I kinda expected some YI enemies here, or at least SOMETHING a bit more interesting but oh well, you can't have everything.

Nonetheless, this was a great level, and it almost would've made it into The Best, if it just was a bit more interesting. 7.25/10, moved to Pretty Good.
