A nasty, wicked evil is taking root and spreading in the Mushroom Kingdom. It is a virus--a seemingly unstoppable evil ravaging the land. Toad soldiers and those that are willing to fight take a stance, but are completely wiped out. It has but one desire: to destroy. Nothing stands in its way.

That was, until Mario woke up. He had been living in a falsified world of paradise and promise. The virus had taken a hold on his head, his mind, and his feelings and made it to be what it was not. But now, with his touch of reality restored, he readies himself to take a swing at the corruption destroying his homeland.

With the help of lead researcher Dr. Morel and his fellow toads, can Mario be the savior of the land once more? Or will he too become one with the virus?
