Never use emulators and do illegal things. Emulators are illegal even when the games are old or you already have bought a legal copy.
Prove:

You can download Metroid and Super Metroid very cheap on the Wii U (even with save states) compared to the prices on amazon (50€). So I don't understand why you have to get emulators. It's better when you pay 5-8 € instead of doing illegal things.

Man, why do you have to be such a fucking party pooper. Lighten up, get an emu, play a game. Just because you don't do shit, and you pay the money for that shit, doesn't mean everyone else has the money for it. Quit being such a fancy pants lamer that has to do everything by the book and right, and start putting some illegality in your life. Everyone does some illegal stuff.

Nintendo says it's illegal to make money off of Nintendo content (which is a little bit of a piss-off for Mario Game LPers), but since emulators don't make money off of Nintendo content, and the fact that they can't emulate modern 3D games well (if at all), which is what the current consumer enjoys, then Nintendo has nothing to worry about.
Virtual Console. They can still get pissed at you for playing their old games.

But that would basically be like saying "Don't play our games". If people like your work, they're obviously going to play the best of it. Getting pissed off about emulators when people took the time to code them for PC gamers, especially even when Dolphin states; "dump your own roms, don't download them". As long as Emulators don't make profit, then there is nothing to worry about.

This can be related to SMBX. Redigit wasn't earning money from SMBX, and yet Nintendo still shut down Redigit's game, even if your argument about playing games on emulators as long as they aren't being sold for money, then this is just not right.

I despise Metroid, I always thought it was lousy and dull.

What possessed you to write such a lousy and dull message then? Metroid isn't lousy and dull. I bet if you play Metroid Prime 3, that game was really fun. Metroid Prime 2 even. Both were full of action.

VC sells old games.
You can find old games on the internet (not roms, actual cartridges to pay for)
Therefore, your point is moot.

Don't judge a game until you've actually played it.

Every goddamn person on the Internet (this is hyperbole, mind you) uses emulators. Especially if you own the game/are playing a romhack it's a completely victimless crime. I do not think that emulating/pirating games that are easily obtainable in the modern day is right, though. But if you're going to emulate a game that is not widely available (widely available includes Virtual Console, an excellent idea from Nintendo) or one that you already own for some other purpose, I don't think there's anything ethically wrong with that. This is just my opinion on the matter.

Nintendo can't make the law. Emulators are 100% legal.

Fixed. ROMs are illegal. That's the only thing that I agree with, however there is no other way if you're desperate now is there?

Play Super Metroid, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Metroid Fusion and you'll think otherwise. You can't review a game series when you didn't even play it.

Metroid Fusion was just awkward, given how linear it was though.

The game is a bit linear but it's really fun and the storyline and the surprising events are really awesome. It's the 4th best metroid game in my opinion.
