Well, this is just a random idea I had a few minutes ago that I want to share: I remember one of the contest had an unique rule; the one of creating levels based on nature; no castles, factories... Well, my idea is to add unique rules to the next contest to force people to make something fresh, creative, original and outstanding! What I had in my mind, to be more exact, was to give each participant a music that would never be normally used in a level and make them create a level that fits with the particular sound given, for example: Few people use music from Ace Attorney games on their levels; this franchise could be use in such contest.
I don't know what you guys think about this and I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Well, my main reason for giving this as an idea and not making a contest myself is that I don't think it will get a lot of attention. But now that I think about it, if I were to give a good prize then it might get a decent amount of people interested in... We'll I might do it soon.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend this idea for official contests. Prohibiting certain themes is needlessly restricting since they aren't relevant to a level's quality.

Do what you please for your own contests, but the main ones should remain pretty open about what they take in.

Pretty much yeah, it is.

As others already mentioned, it is kinda strict based just for specific Level Themes instrad of pretty much all of them. Original Community Contest stays as always now so it will not change the rules all that much...

This would actually be rather enjoyable! I wanna see what people do with the Doctor Who Theme!

I might make this a contest if no one else does.

It's weird: when I finish looking at a topic, I realize that HenryRichard1234 came behind me and made a post in the same thread...anyway, I know of quite a few obscure games, so if this contest does happen, I'd like to be one of the people who submits the music that other people have to make a level based on.

Well, to be honest I find it to be a rather interesting idea. Besides, this would be somewhat like some kind of job or something. People often, in case you could dedicate to something of the sort, requests you to make something based on an idea they had, it can be music, painting, web page or even structure related.

If this contest were to be made, I'd definitely be part of it, as it would give me the chance to actually be given a rather tough challenge. I have always decided which music would fit for my level, but never I have ever been given a music and told to make a level that would fit for said music. Of course, this is my opinion. Most people, like the ones that already posted here may disagree.

But hey, don't give up just because some people tell you it wouldn't be a great idea. You won't know if it's an actual success until you try out.
