this seems to be what's causing the issue. smbx calculates height from the bottom of the sprite. so, when the chuck is hit, the effect isn't spawned near the top of the sprite like usual, but rather near it's feet, making it look like it's inside the ground. changing the height to 88 (the height of the image) and making a new txt file for effect 252 which contains
fixed the issue on my end. (keep in mind that yOffset should be set to the height of the chuck minus 60, as the effect is 60 pixels tall)
