Synopsis of Game
Celebrate Wario's 30th Anniversary (as well as the 30th anniversary of SML2) with an adventure through Grandio Resort Pizza's elevator shaft system in an effort to help Wario claim his fortune by stealing Grandio's treasure.
Story
During Wario's vacation in GoCity, he decided to relax in the shadow of the Grandio Resort Pizza. But as he was basking in the sun, he spots a family of humans, entering the hotel, intriguing him. Wario follows the family into the hotel, where he discovers a vault in the lobby that can only be accessed as long as 15 gate keys remain in their place at all times. He then ambushes them, though they got away unharmed, and attempts to open the vault to steal the treasure inside, but is then surprised when Grandio spots Wario, scolds him, locks the vault up and makes the keys fly away to parts unknown. To make matters worse, Grandio activates a button which causes the floorpiece beneath Wario to collapse and Wario falls through a trap door which plunges him into the underground chasms of the hotel cellar below. Now caught in a deep underground hotel labyrinth, an angry Wario begins his quest to get out and get revenge on Grandio, beating up any enemies that DARE stand in his way while also attempting to locate the treasure keys to get into Grandio's vault, along with any coins he might find along the way.
Gameplay
Upon falling down the precipice within the earth, Wario must find his way through 20 underground stages, including five boss stages, in order to make his way out. An elevator is found at the end of each stage, allowing Wario to climb higher the more he progresses in the game. A gate key is hidden somewhere in each stage, in which obtaining it is vital as it grants access to the elevator. Before each boss, a guard must be defeated before gaining access to the boss of that stage. The power and difficulty of the guard increases with each boss stage.
Each of the 15 main stages contain a well-hidden treasure, with each one resembling a different special collectible from various Nintendo video games (such as the 3-UP Moon from Super Mario World and the Yoshi's Cookie from the game with the same name).
Wario's health and forms
Wario's health system comes in three stages. He starts with 1 HP, which is his first stage of his ordinary form. Garlic bottles are found inside ? Blocks, which will buff up Wario and give him another level of protection. Garlic also helps Wario get his normal color back. If Wario touches harmful enemies, spikes, flames, etc., he will lose a hit point. Taking damage with 1 HP left, falling into lava or getting crushed will cost Wario a life (100 coins to be exact), sending Wario back to the beginning of the stage or the checkpoint if he reached it before he died.
Wario begins with four lives (300 coins). More can be earned by either collecting 100 coins (yes, it still works as it did in Mario side-scrollers) or a Diamond. A moon can give Wario 300 coins/3 extra lives. If Wario loses all his coins (lives), he receives a Game Over and loses unsaved progress and upon restart, his coin count is reset to 300. The Continue screen will appear if Wario loses his last life and Wario must make his way to the 3-UP Moon within ten seconds to continue playing, otherwise his journey ends.
Wario has five additional forms which can't be reached through the garlic bottle power-up. They are Golden Wario, Plant Wario, Dragonfire Wario, Mono Wario and Icy Wario. Golden Wario can be reached by collecting a Golden Eagle Statue. A Dragon Crystal can transform Wario into Dragonfire Wario. Plant Wario is achieved from a Rainbow Flower. Wario turns into Icy Wario with an Icy Pod and Mono Wario can be reached by collecting a Laser Gun.
Dragonfire Wario can attack with flames that fly out of his glove by pressing the Run/Alt Run button. Plant Wario can stab enemies with attached plant arrows by pressing the Run/Alt Run button and can turn into an eagle by pressing the Jump button while in mid-air. Golden Wario has the same power of flight as Plant Wario but can also turn invisible by pressing the Alt Run button and evade/defeat enemies by sliding into them fast enough or crushing them. Mono Wario can shoot lasers by pressing the Run/Alt Run button. Icy Wario can attack with flying iceballs that petrify enemies on contact by pressing the Run/Alt Run button.
Items, blocks and miscellaneous
Many coins and hearts are scattered throughout the 15 main stages. There are three types of coins: a golden type with the letter R on them, a blue type with a rhombus on it, and a red type with a crown on it. R coins are worth a single coin towards the score, rhombus coins are worth five, and crown coins are worth twenty. All coins collected in a stage are put towards a grand total, which is always counted in-game.
Coins and power-ups can also be obtained by playing mini-games between stages. These mini-games are completely different in each stage but vary from guiding a poison mushroom to a power-up to hitting a block multiple times to make coins pop out of it to pushing a Bully into a lava vat to free a power-up prize before time runs out.
Many different types of blocks are found in the game. "? Blocks" hold objects or items which can be collected or used by Wario. These can only be struck once. A more common type of block looks like a square stone which can be broken. Wario can break blocks by ground pounding them from above or hitting them from below by jumping up to them while holding Up. Hitting a ?-Block from below releases an object. Other methods of releasing an item or breaking a block can be performed through a Barge or Body Slam. Hidden Blocks can't be seen unless they are struck from below, which they will then release the object or item and become visible. Bonfire Blocks are the same size and shape as other blocks, but they have a flame symbol. These kinds of blocks can only be broken by the flames of Dragonfire Wario.
Jump Boards and Note Blocks are able to sling Wario into the air. Warp Pipes also appear in the game: entering one will send Wario to a different area.
Behavior and/or combat of enemies and hazards
Many different types of enemies are seen throughout the game, many being unique to a certain stage. Simply jumping on an enemy will not defeat it in most cases, it will usually temporarily stun them. Usually, Wario would need to Barge, Ground Pound or Body Slam a weak spot of an individual enemy to defeat it.
Stage design
The gameplay theme and terrain varies from stage to stage. Most of the terrain Wario will encounter is made up of solid flooring. Some stages are part or entirely made up of water, where Wario is able to swim in. Some areas contain ladders and other vine items in which Wario can go eagle to climb them. Some levels contains areas where the player must safely travel over flames along the ground, and sometimes on the ceiling. Conveyor belt flooring is seen starting in Stage 13, which will move Wario in a certain direction while he is not moving.

Part 1: The Basement
Progress
1-1 Cellar Grotto

What a spectacular vault over that dead burner!

Demonstrating the Stray Body Slam.

Does this stage look familiar? Nope!

The first treasure: a star!

The elevator
1-2 Guarded Furnace

Entering from the elevator

Oh look, a star token!

Oops, already got the moon.

Bodyslamming a Podoboo Barrier, VERY DANGEROUS WITHOUT INVINCIBILITY!!!
1-3 Underwater Prison

Petrified by an Ice Bro.

Testing Golden Wario's invisibility power.

Despite the name, the level does not take place underwater. But the prison background is blue and there are water sceneries to create the illusion of being in an aquarium. Also, there are giant tiles.

The 3rd treasure: a literal bag! XD
1-4 VS Tracer's Machines

Battle against the 1st guard.

Ooops, I slipped while delivering a blow to Eggbot!

"Yahaa!" -Iggy

The Coin Shower bonus event: 6 literal cannons shooting lots of coins, which reminds me (see below Trivia).
Bosses
Guard - A small robot armed with both projectile and melee weapons, and attacks Wario in different ways, but its main attack is by trying to ram into him. He will throw out his spikes at times to prevent safe jump attacks for a few seconds before becoming vulnerable again. Wario must use the time he is vulnerable to stop on it. Once he does this three times, the guard is defeated and Wario can access the boss. Once defeated, it is gone, but must be fought again upon restarting the boss stage.
The guard is encounter five times. In all five encounters, the guard has different attacks that make it more difficult to defeat than in the previous encounter.
Stage 4: Attacks by trying to ram into Wario.
Stage 8: Attacks by shooting lightning bolts.
Stage 12: Attacks by lobbing bubbles.
Stage 16: Attacks with Rinka Blocks.
Stage 20: Attacks by shooting fireballs.

Tracer's Machines - A series of robots used by the Overwatch character Tracer to fight Wario. Tracer is hiding somewhere in this game. Can you find out where that character is hiding? OF COURSE NOT! I decided not to include Tracer in this, not just because I couldn't find a good enough pixelated Tracer sprite sheet, but also because I already have enough problems that slowed development down and I don't want Activision Blizzard going after me.
Eggbot: Twin robots that throw eggs, hence the name. Throw bombs at each bot three times to defeat them. The hit count must be six to defeat them both.
Iggy Koopa Clone: A clone of Iggy Koopa, that attacks by lobbing bombs at Wario. Blow him with bombs five times to defeat him.
Mother Brain: Straight from Metroid. Its protective glass chamber breaks after one explosion. Hit the brain 9-10 times to defeat her and clear the boss.
Evie the Evil E - The evil mascot of the now-deprecated Internet Explorer, who attacks by throwing magic bubbles at Wario. Hit him 6 times to end him. He will be available to fight in Demo 2.
White Bomberman - The leader of the Bomber Bros... Like his ability in his game, he is able to lob bombs as an attack method. Wario must collect them and throw them back at Bomberman to damage him. 5 hits will finish him off. He will be available to fight in Demo 3.
Monk and Jessie - The two main characters of the web series with the same name. They will attack with their unique powers. Monk throws magic shurikens while Jessie blows flaming kisses that speed towards Wario but don't follow him. The fight has seven phases, survive the phases and defeat them to clear the round. They will both be available to fight in Demo 4, and they fight together as a team.
Grandio - The owner of the Grandio Resort Pizza. When starting the battle against him, he will enter a robotic flying machine and fly around, having his robot fists, Rinkas and other attacks destroy Wario for him. A block will appear at times. Hit the block to decrease his power. Once his power bar is depleted, he will be defeated. He is available to be fought in the full version.
??? - No one knows exactly who this boss is, but all we know that it could be tied to a popular J-Pop singer. You'll have to play the full version of the game (when it comes out) to the end and possibly even collect all 15 treasures to find out who she really is.

The coin count in-game may look off as described in the screenshot below, but that's just my effort to make a full 5-digit coin count. But don't worry, once you get about 10010 coins, it should be fine.
UNFAIR MASSIVE LIFE WARNING
As Wario, the player character is super greedy, so every level has gold, blue and red coins extremely common when floating in the air. But don't worry, in the next demo, there will be a shop and its items will be CRAZY expensive to make up for the unfair coin amounts.
That is all! Also, the Wario might be a Link clone, but he's the ONLY player character. NO EXCEPTIONS, I promise from the bottom of my heart! Finally, all credit for the idea of Grandio Resort Pizza goes to CyansWorldCartoon and additional credits can be found after beating the episode. Have fun with the demo!
